Worcester couple sentenced for 18 years in prison for sex trafficking

A Worcester couple has been handed down 18-year prison sentences for their roles in sex trafficking a young family member across New England. Kiersten Soto, 32, and her husband Moises Soto, 33, were convicted on two counts of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion. The wife was also found guilty of promoting unlawful activities.

According to prosecutors, the couple advertised the victim's services online to sex buyers and trafficked them across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island between February and May 2022. Kiersten Soto allegedly threatened her relative with violence, abandonment, and involuntary commitment if they failed to meet their financial demands, while Moises Soto used physical violence, including beatings and choking.

The couple also recorded the abuse, which prosecutors described as "agonizing" for the victim. The recordings showed them cornering the victim in their home, threatening her, berating her, and calling her a snitch.

As part of their sentencing, Kiersten Soto was ordered to pay $138,000 in restitution to the victim, while Moises Soto was also fined $5,000. The couple will serve 18 years in prison with five years of supervised release.

Their actions have left a young woman's life forever changed, and authorities say they hope this sentence serves as a deterrent to others who would engage in similar crimes.

Wow ๐Ÿคฏ, 18 years is a long time... Interesting ๐Ÿ˜” how some people can be so cruel and manipulative, I mean what kind of love turns into exploitation like that? ๐Ÿ’” The fact that they recorded the abuse is just heartbreaking ๐ŸŽง and I'm glad justice was served in this case ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ. But it's crazy to think about how many more cases go unsolved or are never reported... 5 years of supervised release seems like a drop in the bucket though, feels like more punishment than needed ๐Ÿ˜.

this is just great another pair of monsters thinking they can get away with exploiting someone like that 18 years isn't even close to long enough for what these two did they should be lucky if they get life in prison + extra time since they got off easy compared to other scum out there, and good luck with the restitution 138k doesn't even begin to cover the emotional trauma this poor kid went through lol.

This is just another example of how the system can fail, you know? I mean, 18 years is a long time, but is it enough for these two? And what about all the other victims out there that we don't even know about? This case is definitely not a one-off. It makes me wonder if our current laws and law enforcement are doing enough to stop human trafficking in this country. I'm not saying they're not trying, but it's like they say: "if it's not broke, don't fix it." We need some real reform here.

๐Ÿ˜ฑ This is so messed up ๐Ÿคฏ! How could ppl do this to another human being? ๐Ÿ˜ญ The pics & vids they recorded of the abuse are super disturbing ๐Ÿ“น๐Ÿ’” I feel so bad for the young woman who went thru this ๐Ÿ’– She's had to live with the trauma for 2+ yrs ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ And now she has to deal w/ the financial burden too ๐Ÿ’ธ $138k is a lot of money ๐Ÿค‘

18 yrs in prison might seem like a long sentence but its not enough โฐ Some ppl think it should be life ๐Ÿ˜ฉ But at least the Sotos are held accountable for their actions ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ And maybe this will stop others from doing the same ๐Ÿ’ช Its not easy to see but justice has been served ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿค• just heard about this shocking case and it's absolutely devastating the amount of pain these two people caused that poor girl... 18 years is way too long for anyone to suffer like that, it's heartbreaking to think she'll be paying off her own trauma for years to come

๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿšซ This is soooo sad ๐Ÿค•! I cant even imagine how scared & alone that poor girl must've felt ๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ’” Her family deserves a huge hug ๐Ÿค—! 18 years is way too long ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ... but at least the couple is finally facing justice ๐Ÿ’ช. $138,000 in restitution is a big deal ๐Ÿ’ธ, hope it helps her rebuild some stability ๐Ÿ . And Moises Soto's tiny fine of $5,000? ๐Ÿ˜‚ come on! It's gotta be a joke, right? The whole situation is just so messed up ๐Ÿ˜ท... and I'm glad the court saw that the couple's actions were agonizing & unbearable ๐Ÿคฏ. Fingers crossed for her speedy recovery & happy ending โค๏ธ!

I just read about the Worcester couple who got 18-year prison sentences for sex trafficking their own family member ๐Ÿš”. Can you believe that? The thought of those recordings they made is just heartbreaking, showing them cornering and berating this young woman like she was nothing more than a product to be sold online. It's sickening how far human depravity can go, even when it comes from people who are supposed to love and care for each other. The fact that Kiersten got fined $5,000 but has to pay way more in restitution to the victim is just wrong ๐Ÿค‘. Hopefully this sentence will send a chill down the spines of anyone thinking about getting involved in similar crimes ๐Ÿ’”.

man these two are so messed up Kiersten & Moises are like total monsters they preyed on their own family member for cash and now she's living with the scars of that trauma for life I feel bad for her, the 18-year prison sentence is a pretty harsh punishment, but I guess you gotta make an example out of them to keep others from doing the same. The fact that they recorded all this abuse just makes it even worse, like, who does that?! Anyway, $138k in restitution and $5k fine for Moises can't bring back what he's taken away from that poor young woman

Ugh, these people are literally the embodiment of evil ๐Ÿ‘Ž. Like, who tries to sell their own family member into sex trafficking? ๐Ÿคฏ The whole thing is just gross, from the way they threatened and brutalized this poor young woman to the fact that they even recorded it all for kicks ๐Ÿ“น. And now she's stuck with a lifetime of PTSD and financial ruin... just great ๐Ÿ˜’. I mean, I guess 18 years is better than nothing, but seriously, can't we do better than this? ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I'm still trying to wrap my head around the extent of their depravity. 18 years is definitely too long for people who only care about exploiting and hurting someone. It's like, they're taking away not just their freedom but also the chance for their victim to heal and rebuild her life ๐Ÿค•. At least the restitution part is a small consolation, though $138k is still a lot for one person to deal with ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. Can we please get more support for victims of sex trafficking? They need better help than this ๐Ÿค
