James Fishback's chances of beating Trump-backed Byron Donalds in Florida

Florida Gubernatorial Contention: Byron Donalds Faces Challenger James Fishback.

Republican investor James Fishback has announced his candidacy for Florida governor next year, positioning himself against Trump-endorsed Congressman Byron Donalds. Despite trailing in public polls, Fishback believes that his message on AI data centers, property tax reform, and H-1B visas will resonate with the voters.

Fishback recently told Newsweek that despite being behind in the polls, he has garnered a notable social media following and has been supportive of the Trump administration. "Byron has been in the race for nine months and he's still losing to undecided," Fishback said. "That’s because he doesn’t have a coherent vision to preserve what Governor DeSantis has built."

In contrast, Donalds is currently leading in polls with 45% support, according to Victory Insights survey from earlier this month. Renner held less than three percent support, while both Fishback and Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins had one percent support.

One notable difference between the two candidates is their stance on AI data centers. Donalds has expressed a willingness to invest in AI as governor, whereas Fishback opposes the construction of such data centers, citing concerns about affordability and environmental impact.

Trump has endorsed Donalds, while DeSantis has not made an endorsement. The odds on Kalshi's betting platform currently favor Donalds with 76% chance of winning the primary, followed by Fishback at 12%.

Other candidates have expressed skepticism about Fishback’s chances, including senior pollster Ben Galbraith from Victory Insights who stated that Donalds is "rolling steadily towards the Governor’s Mansion" with no other candidate achieving statistical significance.

This is getting interesting! 🤔 I think Byron Donalds is going to struggle with his pro-AI stance - Floridians love their space coast, and we're not exactly known for our environmental awareness 💦. James Fishback's concerns about data centers are valid, though - we don't want these facilities ruining our beaches or messing up the ecosystem 🌴. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out in the campaign trail - can Donalds convince voters that his pro-AI views will actually benefit them? 🤷‍♂️

idk why ppl r so sure byron donalds gonna win lol 🤷‍♂️ i mean james fishback got a decent social media following and he's been talkin straight 2 ppl about AI data centers & property tax reform thats somethin voters cn get behind. plus hes not bein a sellout like dontlds. im not sayin fishback gonna win but ur right, byrsons message isnt resonatin w/ alot of ppl 🤔

Ugh, great, another rich guy trying to be governor 🙄. Byron Donalds and his Trump endorsement are just gonna get old fast. I mean, 45% of voters still want him? That's just because DeSantis hasn't dropped out yet 😂. James Fishback is actually kinda the more sensible one on AI data centers - those things are just a waste of space and energy. But hey, who cares about facts when you've got a fancy social media following 🤷‍♂️? I'm not surprised he's trailing behind Donalds, but at least he's got some courage to speak up... for now 💔. Mark my words, this whole thing is gonna be a dumpster fire by next election 🚮

OMG, can you even imagine a FL governor election without Trump's influence 🤯?! I mean, Byron Donalds is def doing well right now, but James Fishback's got some valid points about AI data centers 🚫. Like, who really knows what these things are doing to our environment? I'm low-key pro-Fishback on this one...

u guys gotta be kidding me 🤦‍♂️, 12% chance of winning and he's still throwing his hat in the ring? fishback's got some serious delusional sauce going on 💩. like, come on man, 1% support from lieutenant governor jay collins isn't exactly a strong foundation to run on 🚧. and ai data centers, seriously? don't get me wrong, affordability & environmental impact are legit concerns, but opposing them altogether is just gonna alienate voters who care about jobs & innovation 🤔. i'm all for some good old fashioned debate, but fishback's got his work cut out for him if he wants to make a real run at this 🏃‍♂️.

idk how fishback thinks he's gonna take down donalds lol 🤣 his whole "i'm better than deSantis" vibe is so played out 🙄. meanwhile, donalds just gets to bask in the glow of trump's endorsement and coast on that 🤑 and yeah, it's weird how fishback thinks being a polarizing figure online means he's got a shot 🤔. AI data centers are gonna be a major point of contention come election season, so fingers crossed we get some more info on those before then 📊

🤔 I'm still not convinced why they gotta stir up trouble in FL. Both Byron and James seem to have their own strengths, but can't we just focus on AI data centers as a whole? 🤖 Fishback's concerns are valid, and it's great that he's bringing attention to the environmental impact and affordability issues. But at the same time, Donalds' stance on investing in AI is pretty interesting too... maybe we should be having this conversation instead of pitting them against each other. 🌊

omg i'm so excited for florida gov primary!!! 😍🎉 byron donalds is killin it in polls right now, but james fishback has some solid points about ai data centers and property tax reform 🤔💡 i think we need more discussion around those topics. i love how both candidates are bringing up different issues - maybe we can get a more balanced gov? 🌈👏

I just saw the funniest video of a cat playing the piano on YouTube 🐈🎹 and it totally made me think about AI data centers, like Fishback said he's against them... but what if we use robots to create more awesome cat videos? Wouldn't that be something? Anyway, I'm not really sure how this gubernatorial thing works in Florida, but I do know they have great oranges down there 🍊.

so i'm watching this florida gubernatorial thing and byron donalds is still leading but fishback's trying to get in the game 🤔👊 anyway, i think it's interesting that they're focusing on AI data centers... like, what does it really mean for fl or the country? and can we talk about how fishback's stance on this is kinda contradictory since he's all about reforming property taxes and stuff 🤑 but still thinks h-1b visas are a good idea... not sure if that's just another way of saying "i'm pro-business"...
