Detroit's Midtown Neighborhood Welcomes Medusa, a New Italian Restaurant Concept
A vacant space in Detroit's trendy Midtown neighborhood is about to get a fresh new face with the arrival of Medusa Cucina Siciliana. This upcoming restaurant will take over 664 Selden St., a building that has seen its fair share of short-lived concepts, including Smith & Co., Vigilante Kitchen + Bar, and Epiphany – Nain Rouge Kitchen.
According to Hour Detroit magazine, Medusa is helmed by Chef Anthony Lombardo, who also co-owns the popular Italian restaurant SheWolf Pastificio & Bar located just a block away. However, Medusa's focus will be on Sicilian cuisine, with dishes inspired by the Mediterranean region, including pasta and seafood.
"We're going to tell the story of Sicily through our menu, through our service and our hospitality," Lombardo said in an interview. "The food's simple: olive oil, capers, olives, tomatoes, anchovies." By focusing on these classic ingredients, Medusa aims to showcase the uniqueness of Sicilian cuisine to its patrons.
Patrick Thompson Design is behind the renovation of the space, which is expected to be completed by late December or early January. With a team of chefs led by Lombardo, Medusa promises to bring a taste of Italy to Detroit's vibrant food scene.
