San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum returns statues stolen from Thailand in 1960s - WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale

🙏 I'm so happy to see this happening! It's amazing that the San Francisco Asian Art Museum finally returned those stolen Thai statues after 50 years. It just goes to show that even though time may pass, our responsibility to respect and appreciate other cultures' heritage remains strong 💖. The fact that local Thai residents came forward with information is truly heartwarming – it's a testament to the power of community and collaboration 🌈. I think this is a huge step towards a more mindful and respectful art market, where cultural artifacts are valued over profits 💸. Fingers crossed there will be more statues found and returned soon! 🤞

I mean, can you believe it's taken 50 years for them to come crawling back 🙄. I think it's awesome that Thai scholars finally got their hands on some proof and were able to get these statues back though! It's all about respecting cultural heritage and acknowledging where something came from, ya know? The fact that museums are starting to take responsibility for the artwork they've acquired is a huge step in the right direction 🙌. And I'm loving the collaboration part of this story - it just goes to show that even in the art world, research can lead to some major breakthroughs 💡. Plus, I guess you could say those statues are finally coming home to where they belong... wherever "home" is for Thailand, that is 🏠.

🙌 Finally some good news! I'm so glad those Thai statues are coming home after all that time. It's crazy how people thought they were doing us a favor by collecting them, when really they were just being selfish & ignorant to their history 🤦‍♂️. It's awesome that the museum is taking responsibility and making things right.

I've always said that if you don't know something, it's better not to say anything 😊. These statues should never have been gifted in the first place, but at least now they're going back where they belong. I'm so happy for Thailand & their culture 🎨. It just goes to show how far we've come with awareness & respect for cultural heritage over the years 👏.

50 years late, right? 🤦‍♂️ I mean, who keeps art for that long? Back in my day, we had a saying "when you borrow something, return it". Guess some people don't play by the rules 😐. I'm glad these Thai statues are finally coming home to Thailand though, it's about time! 🙏 The museum was always a bit sketchy about their origin story too... like they were trying to hide something 🤫. Glad those Thai scholars did their research and helped bring this back to the people who should have them in the first place 👍

just saw this news about those stolen Thai statues being returned after 50 yrs its kinda mind blowing that ppl just kept holding onto them without even thinking about where they came from 🤯 anyway, gotta give props to all the thais involved who worked so hard to get these things back home hope more artifacts make it back too

I'm loving this repatriation moment 🙌! It's wild that those statues were just chillin' at a museum for 50 years, without anyone really knowing where they came from 🤯. I mean, we've all been guilty of not asking enough questions about the stuff we buy or display in our homes (ahem, your grandma's vase, anyone? 😉). It's great that the Thai community is getting some closure and their cultural heritage is being preserved ❤️.

The fact that local residents were interviewed to confirm the statues' origins is a huge win 🏆. It shows us that we can all play a role in uncovering the truth about our shared history, whether it's art, artifacts, or just everyday stories. And let's be real, it's also super important for museums and collectors to do their due diligence on sourcing materials 💡.

Can't wait to see more cultural artifacts making their way back home 🌏!
