I'm not buying this whole "smart tech" thing
. These teens were able to carry out such a heinous crime using nothing but their wits and some fancy surveillance footage
. What's the point of having all these cameras and smart systems if we can't even prevent something like this from happening in the first place?
It just shows that tech isn't the solution to our problems, it's just another tool for us to deal with the consequences of our own actions
.
And what's up with the idea of "smart" law enforcement systems that can identify suspects based on video footage
? It sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. How do we know this isn't just some over-reliance on surveillance and not enough actual human judgment in play?
I mean, I'm all for keeping our streets safe, but let's not get too caught up in the idea that technology is going to solve everything
. We need to focus on the real issues here, like poverty, inequality, and lack of opportunities for young people like this
. That's where the real change needs to happen, not just slapping a fancy label on it
.
