man... can you believe john brodie is gone at 90 he was like the face of the 49ers for decades and he just kept going 31k yards and 214 touchdowns ain't bad for a guy who's been around since '57 his legacy extends way beyond the field too, he was always an analyst and seemed super knowledgeable about the game it's crazy to think joe montana and steve young didn't have the same level of success without him paving the way
RIP John Brodie ... 90 is old but still impressive for any athlete to play at that level for so long. I was kinda surprised he lived this long tho , I mean, his playing days were back in the day when you had to be tough & durable to make it in the league. He's a true legend & icon for the 49ers & football as a whole . His longevity is an inspiration to all the young players out there trying to follow in his footsteps... can't wait to see what the next gen of QBs does!
just heard about John Brodie passing away at 90... dude was old school , played for the 49ers from '57 to '73 - thats some longevity . He had an incredible career throwing for 31k+ yards and 214 touchdowns - not bad for a guy who pre-dates Montana and Young by like, decades . I guess you could say he set the bar pretty high for future QBs... now his legacy will live on, but its kinda sad that we lost him .
you know what's wild? i was at this food truck festival in san francisco last year and they had these insane truffle fries like, i'm not even kidding it was like 20 bucks for a small serving... but man oh man were they worth it . anyway, back to brodie... did you know that the san francisco 49ers were originally supposed to be called the 'new york 49ers' ? yeah right guess that didn't happen.
man this is sad 90 years old is crazy even back in my grandpa's days John Brodie was already an old pro lol remember watching old games with him as a kid he always told me how tough life was before antibiotics etc but you could tell he had so much respect for the game that's what made him so special 31k yards and 214 touchdowns is crazy by the way i wish i could've seen him play in person
