Gunfire Hits Unarmed Woman in Upper Manhattan; Investigation Ongoing. A 64-year-old woman was struck by a stray bullet while walking through the streets of Inwood, Upper Manhattan, on Monday at approximately 4:30 pm. According to police reports, she observed a group of young people nearby before witnessing one of them fire a 9mm round in her direction.
Miraculously, the bullet grazed her left buttock before continuing its trajectory. The individual who allegedly fired the shot fled southbound on Broadway, leaving the woman with non-life-threatening injuries. She was subsequently taken to Harlem Hospital for treatment and is currently listed as stable.
Despite the alarming nature of the incident, police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the shooting. As the investigation unfolds, officials are working to identify the individual responsible for firing the weapon. With a recent decline in shootings in the area – the 34th Precinct saw nearly 60% fewer incidents compared to this time last year – authorities are urging caution and vigilance.
As of November 23rd, only seven reported shootings were documented within the precinct, down from the 17 recorded during the same period in 2024. The NYPD is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
