I'm not surprised by Alina Habba's resignation as U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, considering the whole appointment debacle was pretty shady from the start

. The fact that she took on the role in the first place raises some serious eyebrows - it's like the Trump administration just assumed she could bypass the normal protocol and fill the role without any real checks or balances in place

.
And now, with her stepping down due to an unlawful appointment, I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of questions asked about why this went down in the first place

. It's not just Habba herself who's taking the fall for this mess, but also the entire administration that thought they could play fast and loose with the rules without anyone pushing back

.
It's also interesting to see Pam Bondi chiming in here - she seems to be trying to distance herself from the whole ordeal by saying it was just a "flawed" process

. But at the end of the day, I think there are definitely some real questions about accountability and transparency within the Justice Department
