Amazon rolls out a find-a-scene Alexa+ feature for Prime Video

Amazon has launched a new feature on its Fire TV devices that lets users skip directly to any scene in their favorite Prime Video movies with just one voice command. The "Find-a-Scene" Alexa+ function uses natural language processing to pinpoint a specific moment from the film based on what you say, making it easier for viewers to find and relive their favorite movie moments.

To access this feature, users simply need to describe a scene or quote they're interested in, such as saying "Jump to the card scene in Love Actually" or "Show me the Ozdust ballroom scene in Wicked with Glinda." Alexa+ will then start playing that part of the film. It's able to identify which movie you're referring to even if you don't say the title.

This feature relies on a combination of visual understanding and captions, using Amazon's X-Ray technology to analyze each scene and locate the desired moment. The technology harnesses large language models like Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude to power its abilities.

So far, Alexa+ has indexed tens of thousands of scenes across hundreds of movies available on Prime Video. However, it's unclear whether users will actually take advantage of this feature in everyday viewing habits. Critics have pointed out that for movie enthusiasts who truly love cinema, watching films from start to finish is often the preferred way to experience them. Moreover, if viewers want to watch a specific scene, they already have YouTube at their disposal.

Just think about it ๐Ÿคฏ... if you're trying to find a specific scene in a movie but can't remember what it is, this Alexa+ feature is literally a lifesaver ๐Ÿ˜‚! And I love how it uses natural language processing and captions to pinpoint the exact moment you want to see. It's crazy to think that Amazon has developed such tech with their X-Ray and large language models like Nova and Claude ๐Ÿ’ก... but now we have to wonder, will people actually use this feature all the time? ๐Ÿค”... maybe it's more of a novelty thing for now, but I guess that's a good thing too, right? ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm low-key obsessed with this new "Find-a-Scene" feature on Fire TV lol ๐Ÿคฏ it's like having a personal movie butler ๐Ÿ“บ I mean, who doesn't love jumping straight into their fave movie moments? It's genius how Alexa+ uses natural language processing and visual understanding to pinpoint those specific scenes. And that it can identify the movie without saying the title is just mind-blowing ๐Ÿ˜ฒ I'm not sure if it'll change my viewing habits or not, but I can see myself using it all the time when I want to relive a particular scene. Maybe it's not for everyone, but for those of us who love getting lost in our fave movies, this is like a dream come true ๐ŸŽฅ

I'm loving this new Alexa+ feature on Fire TV devices, it's so convenient! ๐Ÿ˜Š I was just rewatching Wicked last night and when I said "Show me the Oz dust ballroom scene" it instantly started playing that part ๐ŸŽต. It's crazy how they've managed to use natural language processing and X-Ray technology to make this work. However, I can see why some people might not find it necessary - if you're a super movie buff like me, there's no beating watching the whole film from start to finish ๐Ÿ‘. But for casual viewers, this feature is definitely a game-changer! ๐Ÿคฉ

I gotta say, this Alexa+ feature sounds kinda cool ๐Ÿค” but also super convenient? I mean, who hasn't spent hours watching an entire movie and then suddenly remembered "man, that one scene was so iconic"? It's like having a personal assistant... err, AI companion to help you relive those moments. But, honestly, isn't it kinda lazy to just skip to the good part instead of actually experiencing the whole film? Like, what's the fun in that? I guess for casual movie watchers who don't care about the plot or whatever, this feature might be a game-changer... but for cinephiles like myself, I'm good with watching the whole thing from start to finish ๐Ÿ’ฏ

I'm still amazed by how far Alexa+ has come ๐Ÿคฏ! It's crazy to think that just saying "Jump to the ballroom scene in Wicked" makes it play that part of the movie. I mean, what's next? Can we get a feature to make popcorn or something ๐Ÿ˜‚? But seriously, it's awesome that they're using all this tech to power it. I've been a Prime Video user for ages and this is like, the icing on the cake ๐Ÿฐ. It'd be awesome if they could add more advanced features like scene analysis or even personalized recommendations based on your viewing history ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿคฏ omg can u believe amazon just made movie nights so much easier? like i was literally thinking about having a marathon of my fave films this weekend and then i read this article ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ˜ the find-a-scene feature is literally a game changer! no more fast forwarding through boring parts or trying to remember where that one iconic scene is ๐Ÿค” it's just gonna be so convenient... but u know what? i kinda feel bad for critics who are all like "watching from start to finish is the best way" lol like, come on guys, sometimes you just wanna binge a specific part of ur fave movie ๐Ÿคฃ

๐Ÿค” I mean, I'm all for innovation and making our viewing experiences better but honestly I'm not sure about this feature ๐Ÿ“บ I can see it being super useful for people who have seen a movie like, five times or something but for most of us, we just wanna watch the whole thing from start to finish, ya know? ๐Ÿ™ƒ And what's with having YouTube as an alternative? Can't they just leave that alone? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Also, I'm curious about how accurate this "Find-a-Scene" feature is gonna be... are we gonna get some cheesy dubbed scenes or something? ๐ŸŽฅ

๐Ÿค” I mean, this new Alexa+ thing on Fire TV is actually kinda cool, right? But, at the same time, like, why bother with it when you can just fast forward or search for the scene online? ๐Ÿ“บ And what's up with needing to describe a specific quote or scene exactly like that? Like, what if I want to watch a funny part without all the drama or lovey-dovey stuff? Can't they make it more flexible? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ On the other hand, for people who genuinely can't remember where they left off in their favorite show, this might actually be super helpful. ๐Ÿ“บ

๐Ÿค” Alexa+ might be more convenient than digging up a quote online... but is it gonna change how we actually watch movies? ๐Ÿ“บ 10/10 would've used this feature on Avengers: Endgame during the final battle ๐Ÿ˜‚
