Animated Biblical Hit ‘David’ Is New On Streaming This Week

Faith-Based Animated Hit 'David' Arrives on Digital Streaming This Week

The animated biblical film "David," directed by Phil Cunningham and Brent Dawes, will hit digital streaming platforms this week. The movie has already opened in theaters nationwide and earned a respectable $81 million at the box office.

From the songs of his mother's heart to the whispers of a faithful God, David's story begins in quiet devotion. When giant Goliath rises to terrorize a nation, a young shepherd armed with only a sling, a few stones, and unshakable faith steps forward. Pursued by power and driven by purpose, his journey tests the limits of loyalty, love, and courage - culminating in a battle not just for a crown, but for the soul of a kingdom.

The film stars Phil Wickham as David, Brandon Engman as the young version of David, and Brian Stivale as Samuel. Rated PG, "David" has received positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike. With an 76% "fresh" score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 46 reviews, the Critics Consensus for the film reads: "David is as likable as its scrappy hero, offsetting its predictability with gorgeously animated backgrounds and a universally appreciable moral."

The audience summary on RT praises the film as an "amazing retelling of an inspiring biblical story" that provides ample entertainment and memorable music. The movie will be available for rent or purchase on digital platforms such as Apple TV and Fandango at Home, priced at $19.99 for a 48-hour rental period.

A new listing on Prime Video has confirmed the release date, which marks another step forward for this faith-based animated film. With its engaging storyline, lovable characters, and stunning animation, "David" is set to captivate audiences once again.

I'm curious how many people will actually check out this one 🤔. I mean, a biblical movie with animation can be pretty cool, but sometimes I feel like we're getting too much of the same old stuff in the faith-based genre. The animation looks nice tho, and Phil Wickham as David is a plus 👍. Has anyone seen the trailer for this? Does it make you wanna watch it or just roll your eyes 🤦‍♂️?

I'm not sure how I feel about this... 🤔 I mean, it's a beautifully animated film, no doubt about that. The animation is gorgeous and the music is catchy. But can we talk about how convenient it is for faith-based content to be marketed as "inspiring" and "b Biblically-rooted"? 🙄 It feels like there's an expectation for people to respond with a certain emotional response, rather than critically evaluating the story itself.

And what's up with the lack of representation? A biblical epic about David, one of the most famous figures in Christian history, but where are the other characters? The women? The marginalized communities? It feels like this film is only telling part of the story. 🤷‍♀️ I'm not sure if "David" is going to be a hit because it's a great film or because people are already primed to respond positively to its faith-based message.

OMG, I'm so down for a David movie 🎥👏! Animated biblical films are always a great way to share inspiring stories in a fun and family-friendly way. Phil Wickham as the lead voice actor is awesome, I love his music 🎶, and I've heard the animation in this film is stunning 🤩. Can't wait to binge-watch it on my tablet this weekend 📺💻, gonna be a great way to relax after a long week 😴!

🎥💖 I'm so down for a good faith-based movie 🙏, but gotta say, I'm not really into the whole 'moral' lecture vibe sometimes 🤯. Still, David looks kinda cool with that epic battle scene against Goliath ⚔️ and I love Phil Wickham's music 🎵. Can't wait to stream it this week and check out the gorgeous animation 📺!

omg I'm so hyped for this new digital drop 🤩! I've already seen the trailer and it looks super inspiring 😊. The animation looks insane and I love that they included some of Phil Wickham's music - the soundtrack was amazing in the theaters I went to see it at 🎵. Can't wait to dive into David's story again, it's such a classic underdog tale 💪.

🤔 you know what's weird about this movie? it just so happens that Phil Wickham (the guy playing David) has been super vocal about his faith and how it influences his music... and now he's starring in a movie based on the biblical story of David, which is basically the ultimate "faith-based" tale. seems like some pretty convenient connections to me 🤑
