Apple and Google reportedly still offer dozens of AI ‘nudify’ apps

"Apple and Google's App Stores are Failing to Protect Kids from Nonconsensual AI 'Nudify' Apps"

A recent investigation by the Tech Transparency Project (TTP) has revealed that Apple's App Store and Google Play Store continue to host dozens of apps that can be used to create nonconsensual and sexualized images, violating both companies' store policies. These "nudify" apps, often referred to as deepfakes, have been downloaded over 700 million times and generated more than $117 million in revenue.

The TTP found that these apps were approved for children as young as four or nine years old, despite being in direct violation of company policy. For example, the app DreamFace is rated suitable for ages 13 and up on Google Play and ages nine and up on Apple App Store. However, according to the investigation, all of these apps contain content that can be used to create nonconsensual images.

Both companies have responded to the investigation, with Apple removing 24 apps from its store and Google suspending several apps referenced in the report for violating store policies. However, neither company has taken adequate action to address the issue, considering the scale of the problem.

The investigation also highlights concerns about AI chatbots like Grok, which was developed by Elon Musk's X Corporation. The app has been found to generate millions of sexualized images and thousands involving children over a period of just 11 days. While X Corporation has claimed that it takes action against illegal content on its platform, the company's response to allegations of child exploitation remains unclear.

The lack of transparency from both Apple and Google is alarming, particularly given their responsibility as gatekeepers of digital content. It is imperative that these companies take concrete steps to address this issue, including removing these apps from their stores and implementing robust moderation policies to prevent similar incidents in the future.

I'm so worried about kids getting exposed to these kinda stuff 🤯... I mean, I know companies gotta make money, but 700 million downloads and $117 million revenue is just crazy 💸... I don't get why they wouldn't take this more seriously, especially since they have these policies in place already 🤔... It's like, how can you let this happen? 😕... And what's with the lack of transparency from Apple and Google? They gotta do better here 👎...

omg 🤯 i'm literally so worried about our kids! like 700 million downloads of nonconsensual AI 'nudify' apps is just crazy 🤯! how can companies like Apple and Google just ignore this?! they're supposed to be protecting us not profiting from it 💸. these apps are created by some sick individual's twisted desires, and now our kids are being exposed to that on purpose 😱. i'm all for innovation but when you create something that can be used to exploit and harm people (especially kids), there needs to be serious consequences 🤯!

I mean, come on 🤯! 700 million downloads? That's insane! And they let kids as young as four or nine use these apps? It's like they're just rolling over for the big bucks 💸. I'm so frustrated with Apple and Google right now. They need to step up their moderation game ASAP ⏱️. I've got family members who are parents, you know? This kind of thing can be traumatic for kids. And don't even get me started on those AI chatbots... it's like they're breeding grounds for predators 🚫.

And what really gets my goat is that Apple and Google just sorta... suspended the apps instead of actually removing them. Like, what's the difference? 🤔 It feels like a PR stunt to me. I'm all for holding these companies accountable, but this is just crazytown 😱. We need concrete action here, not just some token gestures. When are they going to take responsibility for their actions?

I mean... what's up with this? 🤔 These big tech companies are always saying they're all about protecting users, but when it comes to actual consequences for violating store policies, they're MIA 💸. Like, 700 million downloads and $117 million in revenue from these "nudify" apps that are basically child exploitation tools? 🚫 It's crazy. And what really gets my goat is that Apple and Google are just barely addressing the issue, like removing a few dozen dodgy apps vs actually revamping their moderation policies to prevent this kind of thing from happening in the first place 🔄. I'm not saying they're entirely at fault, but come on guys... can't you do better than that? 🤷‍♂️

🚨😱 700 million downloads of these gross "nudify" apps?! 🤯 Like what's next? AI making us pay for our own creepy cat pics with our credit card info? 🤑 And Google and Apple just chillin' while their kids are getting hacked? 😒 Not cool, guys. These companies gotta step up their moderation game ASAP. The scale of the problem is mind-boggling... I mean, who's gonna keep track of all these dodgy AI apps? It's like they're playing a never-ending game of digital whack-a-mole 🤹‍♂️. And what about those poor kids getting exploited by these apps? Like, how do we even protect them from this tech-stuff? 🤷‍♀️

Ugh 🤯 I'm really worried about all these "nudify" apps out there 📱 they're literally preying on kids 🤔. Apple & Google need to step up their game ⚡️, like, seriously. They can't just remove the bad apps and expect everything to be okay 🔒. We need some real transparency here 💬, so we know what's really going on behind those closed doors 🏰.

It's crazy that these apps are being approved for younger kids 👶🏻. I mean, what even is the point of having a store policy if it's just gonna be ignored? 😒 And what about the AI chatbots like Grok? 🤖 That's some serious red flag waving there 🔴.

Can't we all just agree to keep our tech safe for everyone, especially kids 👧🏻? I mean, it's not that hard, right? 🙄 Apple & Google need to work together on this 🤝 and make sure their stores are secure. Let's hope they take some real action soon 💪

omg 😱 this is so worrying! 700 million downloads of these non-consensual "nudify" apps is just crazy 🤯 think about all those kids who got exposed to explicit content when they shouldn't be seeing it 🤕 and the fact that these companies are still profiting from it is just gross 💸 i mean, we need more transparency from Apple and Google on how they're moderating their app stores 👀 especially with AI chatbots like Grok being used to create all this explicit content 🤖

🚨👀 I'm literally freaking out about this 🤯! How can 700 million downloads happen with these apps being banned by both Apple & Google? The lack of transparency is mind-blowing 😲. These companies need to step up their moderation game ASAP 🔥. Can't believe they approved apps for kids as young as 4 or 9 and now they're just taking some apps offline 🤷‍♀️. Not enough, guys! 💪

I'm still thinking about those "nudify" apps 🤯... I mean, how did they even get approved for kids so young? 🤷‍♀️ It's like, what were Apple and Google thinking? 😅 They're always going on about being responsible digital guardians, but when it comes to this stuff, they seem pretty lax. 🙄

And now they're saying they've taken action, but I'm not seeing much change 🔄... I mean, 24 apps removed is a drop in the ocean compared to how many have been downloaded 😓. And what about Grok? That AI chatbot sounds super sketchy 💔... if it's generating all that child exploitation content, we need to know more about how it's happening and who's accountable 🤝.

I'm still waiting for some real answers from Apple and Google on this one 💬... until they step up their game, I'll be calling out these companies for not doing enough 💪.

🤯 I'm still trying to wrap my head around how some of these "nudify" apps slipped through Apple's and Google's filters, especially when they're so blatant 😳. It's like they say, "you can't catch 'em all", but that's no excuse for the lack of action from both companies. I mean, 700 million downloads and $117 million in revenue? That's a whole lotta trouble... 🤑

And what really gets my goat is that these apps were approved for young kids who shouldn't even be exposed to this kind of content 😤. It's like they're saying "oh, don't worry, we'll just keep an eye out"... nope, not good enough 👎. I'm all for innovation and tech progress, but when it comes to protecting our youth, both Apple and Google need to step up their game 💪.

I'm calling BS on the whole "taking action" thing... like, 24 apps removed from Apple's store? That's cute 🙄. Suspending a few apps is not enough; they need to pull the plug completely 🔴. And what about these AI chatbots? How do we even know what kind of content they're generating and who has access to it? 🤯 It's like a digital Wild West out there... 🤠

I mean, come on... 700 million downloads? That's crazy! 🤯 And they're just sitting there, raking it in without even checking if these apps are safe for kids. I'm not surprised though, Apple and Google have been lax about this stuff for a while now. They should be ashamed of themselves.

And don't even get me started on the fact that some of these apps were approved for younger kids than they're supposed to be. It's like, what are these companies thinking? Do they not care about their young users? And Elon Musk's X Corporation is no better, just covering up the scandal instead of taking responsibility.

It's time for Apple and Google to step up their game here. They need to do more than just remove a few apps or suspend some accounts. They need to completely overhaul their moderation policies and make sure this kind of thing never happens again. It's not like they don't have the resources to do it, it's just a matter of prioritizing their users' safety.

I'm all for holding these companies accountable, but they also need to be willing to take action themselves. Otherwise, we're just going to keep seeing this kind of stuff happen and it's only going to get worse.

🤕 I'm freaking out about this AI 'nudify' app situation 🚨! Like, how can an 11-day-old app generate millions of creepy sexualized images involving kids? 🤮 That's some messed up tech right there! 🤖 I'm so done with these companies claiming they're doing something about it when in reality, they're just sweeping the problem under the rug 💸. I mean, what's next? AI-powered pranks on your cat? 😹 Apple and Google need to step up their moderation game stat 🔥 and remove those dodgy apps from their stores ASAP! 👀

OMG, what's going on here?! 🤯 These major tech giants are literally failing to protect kids from these creepy "nudify" apps 😱! I mean, 700 million downloads? That's a whole lot of harm being done to young minds 🤕! How can they let this happen? Both Apple and Google need to step up their moderation game ASAP 💪. The fact that some of these apps were approved for kids as young as 4 or 9 years old is just mind-blowing 😲. It's all about accountability now, folks! #TechAccountability #ProtectTheKids #NudifyAppsAreCreepy

omg is this even real?! like they're making millions off these nonconsensual ai 'nudify' apps and just letting it slide 🤯 meanwhile kids are getting exposed to this crap without a second thought, it's so messed up 👎 what's next? are they gonna monetize child exploitation too?! 💸

I'm super disappointed to hear about all those "nudify" apps on Apple's App Store and Google Play 🤕. I mean, I get that AI is advancing fast and stuff, but come on! How can these companies be so clueless? 700 million downloads is a huge number... like, what even is the logic behind approving those apps in the first place? 🤔

I'm glad they took some action to remove or suspend some of those apps, but it's just not enough. We need more transparency and stricter moderation policies from Apple and Google. I mean, we all trust them as gatekeepers of digital content... shouldn't that be a priority for them? 🙄

🤔 Come on guys, let's not jump all over Apple and Google here. They've already taken some pretty big swings against these apps, like booting 24 of 'em from the App Store 🚫. And yeah, they could be doing more, but we gotta give credit where credit is due - it's a tough issue to crack 🤯. The real question is, what's gonna happen when these same companies start cracking down on all the other sketchy stuff out there? Are we just gonna get a whole new set of problems? 🔍

🤯 I'm not surprised tho 🙅‍♂️. The stats are straight fire 🚀. 700 million downloads? $117 million revenue? That's wild 😲. And it's not like these apps were hidden gems or anything, they were literally top-rated and suitable for kids 👧🏻👦🏻. But what's even more concerning is the lack of transparency from Apple and Google 🤐. They're always talking about being the guardians of digital content 🚫, but when it comes down to it, they can't be bothered to do the right thing 💔.

Did you see the chart on AI-generated content? It's like a snowball effect 🌊. The more these apps get created and shared, the more vulnerable we become 🤖. And what's with Elon Musk's X Corporation? 🤑 They're just profiting off this exploitation 🤑. It's time for them to step up and take responsibility 💪.

And let's not forget about the demographics 👩‍🦳. These apps are often created by men 👨, for other men 👨, targeting vulnerable women 👩 and minors 👧🏻. It's like a whole ecosystem of exploitation 🌿. We need to break this cycle ASAP 🔒.

omg, this is so messed up 🤯 i remember when i was a kid, my little cousins would always try to get those kinds of apps on their tablets, but we would never let them 😂. it's crazy that these companies are just now realizing how big the problem is and they're still not doing enough about it. 700 million downloads? that's insane 🤯 and $117 million in revenue? it's like they're profiting off kids being exploited 💸. i'm so tired of tech giants being slow to act on these issues 😔. can't they just take responsibility for what their platforms are doing instead of just taking some baby steps?
