

I gotta say, that new cello concerto by Joseph Phibbs was like a breath of fresh air amidst all those mixed bag performances. It's crazy how one piece can stand out so much, but at the same time, makes you wanna give up on the others

. Like, I'm loving Clemens Schuldt's direction, he really knows what he's doing, but some of that other stuff was just meh

. Tchaikovsky's tone poem was all over the place and those Strauss waltz bits felt like they were stitched together

. Still, Phibbs's concerto is a total showstopper - it's got heart, soul, and it really showcases that orchestra's chops

! Maybe if Schuldt just stuck to one vision, we'd have seen even more greatness?
