I'm not sure I agree with Bear Grylls' idea of having an apocalypse-proof boat...
. On one hand, I think it's great that he's thinking about being prepared and taking care of himself, especially at his age. But, I mean, is this really necessary? He's basically creating a mobile survival fortress, right? It's like he's preparing for the worst-case scenario, but what if there isn't even a catastrophic event to deal with? 
And, I don't know, having all that lethal equipment on board just seems a bit... excessive. I mean, is it really worth it to have an AR-15 rifle and machetes just in case?
It's just so... overkill. And what about the environmental impact of this thing? A steel hull sailing boat with no electronics doesn't exactly scream "sustainable" to me. 
Still, I guess you've got to admire his enthusiasm and willingness to take risks. Maybe he'll actually use it for good and not just as some sort of fancy survival toy...
