City Council puts limits on how often Uber, Lyft can boot drivers off their apps

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, it's finally happening โ€“ ride-hailing giants are gonna have to start treating their drivers like actual humans instead of just using them as disposable assets ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ธ. 14 days' notice before getting deactivated? That's actually a decent amount of time for someone to find a new gig, lol. It's about time these companies started being held accountable for how they treat their workers. I'm not surprised Lyft is already trying to spin this as a "flawed policy" though ๐Ÿ™„. Guess it just goes to show that when you're used to getting away with stuff, you get really good at spinning it too ๐Ÿ˜’. Anyway, kudos to the NYC Council for taking a stand โ€“ maybe other cities will follow suit ๐Ÿคž.

idk why ppl are still workin 4 these companies lol ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ its like they just dont care about their workers. i mean 14 days notice isnt really a lot of time to find another job, especially if u got dependents. and whats up w/ the idea that u can be deactivated without any proof? thats not how justice works ๐Ÿ˜’

I'm so down with this move! Finally, some sanity is being brought to those ride-hailing apps ๐Ÿ™Œ. I've got friends who drive for Lyft and Uber and they're always stressed about getting deactivated without warning. It's like, what even is the point of having a platform if you just gonna kick someone out w/o notice? The 14-day notice thing is a good start but we need more ๐Ÿ’ฏ. I'm glad Councilmember Krishnan is fighting for drivers' rights - it's about time! ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

idk why ppl think uber & lyft r so strict about deactivate drivers its like they r afraid of lawsuits lol ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway, i feel bad 4 drivers who get deactivated without notice its like, u gotta have a support system or somethin ๐Ÿ‘ councilmember Krishnan seems like the real MVP here tho ๐Ÿ™Œ he's actually talkin about protectin drivers instead of just playin both sides like lyft & uber r doin ๐Ÿค‘

omg like what even is up with these ride-hailing giants ?? ๐Ÿคฏ they literally just decide to deactivate drivers w/ no notice & now they're being held accountable ๐Ÿ™Œ its crazy how long these drivers had been complaining about unfair treatment & lack of protections. i mean we've all heard stories of people getting 'deactivated' out of the blue & having no way to even appeal it. this new law is like a huge step forward for gig workers - they deserve some basic respect & fairness ๐Ÿค
