Call Your Mother, the rapidly expanding D.C.-based bagel chain, is set to make its mark in Philadelphia with a new location in Fishtown this spring or summer. According to co-owner Andrew Dana, who was shown in an Instagram video discussing the plans, the shop will be the first Pennsylvania location for the company.
The pair, which also operates storefronts in Maryland, Virginia, and Colorado, as well as another upcoming spot in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, drew inspiration from their diverse backgrounds when launching Call Your Mother at farmers markets in Washington, D.C. back in 2018. Dana, a Jewish native of Mount Airy, paired up with chef and co-owner Daniela Moreira, who hails from Argentina, to create a bagel shop that blends elements of New York-style and Montreal varieties.
The menu at Call Your Mother promises something for everyone - ranging from classic smears and proteins to other toppings and specialty items like pretzel bagels. They also offer coffee and sandwiches, catering to customers looking for more than just a quick bite.
In the announcement video, Dana and Moreira expressed their excitement about joining Philly's culinary scene by name-dropping beloved locals such as Allen Iverson and Rocky, as well as Dana's hometown mom.
