Detroit council member proposes ban on masked law enforcement officers - Detroit Metro Times

🤔 I think this is a step in the right direction. You know, when you're trying to figure out what's going on and who's doing what, it's hard to trust that things are being done fairly. This could definitely help build trust between law enforcement and the community. Plus, think about all the times you see those masked people on the news and you're like "wait, who is that?" You know? It's just good for transparency. And if they don't want to show their face, then maybe they should be doing a different job 🤷‍♀️. But at the same time, I guess it depends on how this all plays out in court...

🤔 I think this whole thing is just a distraction, you know? They're trying to make us believe that our government is all about transparency and accountability, but what's really going on is they're just trying to keep tabs on us. I mean, who needs laws that require cops to show their faces when we already have enough ways to monitor them with social media and the news?

And let's be real, if it's really about keeping us safe, then why not make it mandatory for all citizens to carry some form of identification? That way, everyone would know who's behind every action. But no, instead they're just targeting certain groups like immigration agents and saying we need to "reveal our identities". It's all a ruse to get us to trust the system more.

I'm not saying it couldn't be useful for public safety or anything, but come on, we should be thinking about what's really going on here. This whole thing just reeks of agenda-setting and control. 🙄

🤔 I'm all for this move in Detroit! It's only fair that law enforcement officers show their faces when they're doing their job. Think about it - if you're wearing a mask and arresting someone, do we really know who we're up against? This is all about trust and accountability. I mean, what happened to Alex Pretti was absolutely unacceptable. If we can't see who's behind the mask, how can we hold them accountable for their actions? 🚔

I also think it's interesting that other cities are starting to take similar measures. Los Angeles County just approved an ordinance like this, and Philadelphia is working on a law that would ban federal immigration agents from wearing masks in public. It's about time we start prioritizing transparency and accountability in our law enforcement agencies. 💡

Of course, there might be some constitutional hurdles to jump over, but I think the benefits far outweigh the risks. If this ordinance passes in Detroit, it could set a precedent for other cities to follow. And who knows, maybe one day we'll see a nationwide ban on masks worn by law enforcement officers. That would be something to strive for! 🚫

I'm skeptical about this whole thing 🤔... I mean, think about it, what's really going on here? These politicians are just trying to create more drama and control the narrative. First, it's "ban masks" then suddenly it's "require IDs". Next thing you know, they'll be telling us where to sit, how to breathe... 🤷‍♂️ It's all about power and control, not about transparency and accountability. What about the actual law enforcement officers who might feel threatened or intimidated by being forced to show their faces? I'm not buying it 🚫. And what's with this "Detroit No Masks Ordinance" name? Sounds like some kind of joke... just waiting for someone to sue and create a mess 😒.

OMG, can u believe this? 🤯 I'm totally on board with the idea of law enforcement officers having to show their faces while they're working in Detroit! It's about time we have more transparency and accountability, especially when it comes to enforcing immigration laws. The whole thing with Alex Pretti being shot by federal agents is just crazy... 😱 I mean, if you're gonna do a job, you gotta be willing to put your face out there, right? 🤦‍♀️ And can we talk about how hard it is for the public to know who's behind the mask? It's like, isn't that what we want - accountability?! 🙌 I guess some people might say it's unconstitutional or whatever, but I think it's about time we start making changes. Like, my friends and I were just talking about this in math class ( yeah, we're that deep) and we all agreed that it's a no-brainer! 😂
