East Timor still searches for justice, 50 years after Indonesian invasion

Man I'm so frustrated 🤯 about what's going on in East Timor right now. The fact that Berta dos Santos and others like her are still dealing with trauma 24 years after the occupation is just unacceptable 😔. And it's not just them, but their families who have been through hell too.

It's crazy how some people can even be hailed as heroes for committing human rights abuses 🤯. And Indonesia's government prioritizing a good relationship over accountability is like, what's the point of even trying to learn from the past? 😒

I think Major-General Americo Ximenes has it right, though 💡. Those who have fought in the jungle and know the struggles of the people should be the ones leading the charge for justice. Not some politicians who are just concerned with maintaining a good image.

We need to keep pushing for this, you feel me? 🙌 The lack of accountability is still a major issue today, and it's not going to change on its own. We need to keep bringing attention to it and demanding that those responsible be held accountable. 💪

🤕 I'm like so sorry 4 East Timor 🙏... 24 yrs of occupation is way too long 4 a country 2 be treated like dis 🤯. Berta dos Santos' story is literally heartbreaking 💔, no one deserves 2 go thru that kinda trauma at such a young age 😭. I feel 4 those who r still seekin justice but can't get it 👎. It's all good dat Major-General Americo Ximenes is fightin 4 accountability tho 🙌. Indonesia should really step up & take responsibility 4 their actions 💯. The fact that only 1 person got convicted is wild 🤷‍♀️... 200k+ ppl died, dat's a lotta lives lost 💀. East Timor deserves justice 4 sure! 🤞
