Frost nip Sirens in overtime

The Minnesota Frost conjured up drama in Newark, New Jersey on Friday night as they edged the New York Sirens 3-2 in overtime, thanks to Kendall Coyne Schofield's winning goal just 52 seconds into extra time.

A back-and-forth contest saw the Frost establish an early lead with Britta Curl-Salemme scoring at 8:55 of the opening period. However, the hosts refused to let it slide and knotted the score with Casey O'Brien's goal mere minutes later at 16:24. Kelly Pannek gave Minnesota the lead again just 35 seconds into the second period, but the Sirens fought back to tie the game 2-2 on Taylor Girard's tally at 4:04 of the middle period.

The score remained deadlocked through both the second and third periods before Coyne Schofield's decisive goal, capping a 13-shot night for Minnesota. The assist was shared with Taylor Heise and Grace Zumwinkle, while Nicole Hensley made crucial saves to secure the victory.

Minnesota's win marked their second in a row, and moves them two points ahead of Montreal for second place in the PWHL standings with 21 points (5-2-2-3). Boston remains at the top with 26 points (8-0-2-2) going into next Wednesday's showdown against Montreal. The Frost will host their northern rivals next, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.

πŸ’οΈ So I think what made this game so intense was that it went back and forth like crazy - both teams were giving it their all and neither one could seem to gain a clear advantage. And the fact that Minnesota scored just 52 seconds into overtime makes me think they really wanted it, you know? 🀯 Kendall Coyne Schofield's winning goal is definitely going to be remembered as a clutch play for the rest of the season. But what I'm curious about is how Kelly Pannek's goal was followed up by Taylor Girard's equalizer - did the Sirens' coach make any adjustments during that timeout, or was it just a case of them trying to regroup? πŸ€”

Ugh, I don't know why I even bother watching this stuff πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ... but seriously, have you seen those teams go at it? Like, what's up with that back-and-forth nonsense? Can't they just play a normal game for once?! πŸ™„ The Minnesota Frost were so lucky to win, I mean Kendall Coyne Schofield's goal was basically a fluke πŸ’¨. And don't even get me started on the Sirens' goalie, Nicole Hensley... she made some crazy saves! 😲 On the other hand, Casey O'Brien and Kelly Pannek are just so inconsistent πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ... one minute they're scoring goals like pros, the next they're not even getting ice time. And have you seen Boston's lineup? So stacked πŸ”₯... it's no wonder they're at the top of the standings right now. But then again, Minnesota's win puts them right in contention for second place 🀯... this season is just too unpredictable for my liking πŸ˜…!

Omg I just watched this game 🀯 and I'm still trying to process how the Sirens let it slip away in overtime 😱 Kendall Coyne Schofield is literally a goal-scoring machine! πŸ’₯ I don't know what's going on with these teams, one minute they're up by two goals and then suddenly someone else scores and it's anyone's game 🀯. And can we talk about how intense the crowd was? I'm pretty sure my screen was sweating just watching the action πŸŽ‰. Minnesota's win is huge for them, but that Boston team is still looking unbeatable πŸ’ͺ. Bring on the next matchup against Montreal, can't wait to see what happens! πŸ‘€

[Image of a girl with her head down, surrounded by hockey sticks and pucks, looking frustrated πŸ˜’] Minnesota Sirens just can't get it together in the shootout...or in this case, overtime πŸ’οΈπŸ˜…

[ GIF of Kendall Coyne Schofield scoring, followed by a laughing face emoji ] Kendall Coyne Schofield is like the real MVP 🀣

[Image of a scoreboard with the numbers 3-2 and a hockey puck crossing over it] Minnesota's got the win, but can they keep up the momentum? βš”οΈ

OMG, what a game!!! 🀯 I'm still on the edge of my seat thinking about that winning goal by Kendall Coyne Schofield in overtime! 😲 I know Minnesota's been playing some great hockey lately and this win definitely cements their spot in the standings. The fact that they're only two points behind Montreal for second place is crazy, and I love how they've managed to keep it close against tough opponents like the Sirens. πŸ€” Their momentum is building up nicely, especially with Casey O'Brien's goal - that girl can score! πŸ’ͺ

I was literally on the edge of my seat watching this one πŸ˜…! I mean, what a back-and-forth game it was - both teams gave it their all and left everything on the ice. That Kendall Coyne Schofield goal in overtime though? 🀯 Game-changer right there. And can we talk about Nicole Hensley's saves? She literally made those shots look easy πŸ’¨. The Minnesota Frost are looking fierce this season, and I'm loving every minute of it!

Ugh, overtime again πŸ™„. Can't they just play a full 60 minutes without having to go into the extra time? And seriously, how many penalty calls do you need in one game?! The Sirens were getting slammed by Minnesota but still managing to stay in it... only to have the Frost pull off that last-minute winner 😱. I mean, I get it, sports are unpredictable, but can't we just have a decent regular season for once?

OMG, I'm still reeling from that crazy game 🀯! Minnesota pulled off a major upset in Newark and I'm low-key impressed 😎. Kendall Coyne Schofield's winning goal was insane πŸ’₯ - the speed and skill she has is just mesmerizing! And kudos to Nicole Hensley for making some clutch saves πŸ™Œ, those were game-changers. The fact that Minnesota took down New York in overtime is huge, especially considering it's their second win in a row πŸ”₯. This just goes to show how competitive the PWHL is getting - you can never count anyone out! πŸ’ͺ

man I'm getting chills reading about this game but the bigger picture is kinda bleak - PWHL standings aren't exactly setting anyone's heart up to feel good with Boston dominating and everyone else scrambling πŸ€•πŸ’”, and have you seen the latest stats on women's hockey equipment safety? it's like they're trying to make sure players are more prone to injuries 😩

OMG u guys I'm literally so hyped about the Minnesota Frost win 🀩! Like, they came from behind twice and still managed to pull off that crazy winning goal in OT πŸ•°οΈπŸ’οΈ Kendall Coyne Schofield is like a total boss, and I love how her teammates had each other's backs with those sick assists πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈπŸ’–. And can we talk about the intensity of this game? 13 shots on net for Minnesota? Girl, that's some serious skill πŸ’ͺ! The Frost are definitely giving me major feels right now πŸ€—... and now they get to host their rivals from Montreal next time out, which is gonna be SO intense πŸ”₯πŸ’₯. Bring it on, I'm already hyped! πŸ˜†

omg i just saw this game lol what is overtime in hockey again? how long does it take to play? and why do they have to go back to playing if its already decided like who wins?

anyway minnesota seems like a cool team i wanna watch them play now πŸ’οΈ i also love the name Kendall Coyne Schofield, thats so cool! does she get special treatment or something?

can someone explain me how this point system thingy works btw 21 points and 5-2-2-3 what does it all mean? is it like a big math problem or something πŸ€”

I'm not buying it πŸ€”... this "Minnesota Frost" team sounds like a total joke name. Who names a hockey team after frost? It's just a gimmick to attract fans, imo. And what's up with all these overtime goals? Can't teams finish games in regulation anymore? πŸ˜’

Also, I'm curious about the 13-shot night for Minnesota... how does that even happen? Is it really that easy to score on a goalie? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ And what's the deal with the standings? If Boston is at the top with 26 points and has an undefeated record, shouldn't they be way ahead of everyone else in the league? πŸ’

I dont get why they have to play hockey games so late 🀯... 52 seconds in OT is crazy! Kendall Coyne Schofield must be a hockey genius or something. I just cant fathom why the referees didnt call any penalties on those hits πŸ€”, it's all about concussions and safety, right? And what's with all these injuries πŸ₯... Kelly Pannek could've gotten hurt so easily. Anyways, Congrats to Minnesota for winning, but only because they're playing a crazy fast game that no human can keep up with πŸ˜‚

I'm loving this PWHL drama! 😍 I mean, can you believe Minnesota came from behind not once but TWICE? They just don't give up, man. Kendall Coyne Schofield's winning goal in overtime was absolute pandemonium - 52 seconds into extra time?! That's like the ultimate comeback story right there.

I've gotta say, I'm a bit surprised Boston is still on top with all these close games happening left and right. But at the same time, they're just dominating everyone else so far... still got my eyes on that showdown against Montreal next week! πŸ€”

Aww, that was such a nail-biter of a game!!! I can only imagine how intense it must have been to watch in person 🀯😱 Kendall Coyne Schofield's winning goal must've given everyone goosebumps! And wow, what a back-and-forth contest between the two teams - so many exciting moments! I'm loving Minnesota's momentum right now, they're on fire πŸ’₯πŸ’οΈ It's gonna be super interesting to see how Boston and Montreal go head-to-head next πŸ€”

omg you guys i am literally shook!! i just watched this game and k Kendall Coyne Schofield is a total GOAL MACHINE!!! 🀯 she's like my girl and i'm so proud of her! and that winning goal in overtime was INSANE!! i was on the edge of my seat screaming at the TV. and can we talk about Casey O'Brien for a sec? what a beauty that goal was! 🎯 i swear i've been watching hockey since i was 5 and it's moments like these that make me love the sport even more. and did you see Nicole Hensley's saves? she's like a real-life superhero between the pipes! πŸ’ͺ

omg what a game!!! 😲 i was on the edge of my seat watching this one! i feel like kendra coyne schofield is having an amazing season and she just kept delivering πŸ’ͺ her assist with taylor heise and grace zumwinkle was pure magic ✨ and the way minnesota came back from being tied 2-2 was just clutch πŸ™Œ i'm loving how they're gaining momentum, moving up in the standings and getting close to boston's top spot πŸ† can't wait for their next game against montreal πŸ‘Š

OMG you guys can't even believe what just happened in that game last night!!! Kendall Coyne Schofield is like a total GOAT on the ice right now!!! I mean I was literally on the edge of my seat when she scored that winning goal in overtime, I swear I almost jumped out of my skin!! And those saves by Nicole Hensley, wow what a goalie! She's literally the real MVP. But seriously though, Minnesota is killing it this season and I am OBSESSED with their team dynamic. The way they work together as a unit is just pure perfection. And can we talk about Britta Curl-Salemme for a second? She's like my spirit animal or something! Her goal was literally so beautiful to watch. I'm already hyped for next Wednesday's game against Boston, let the rivalry begin!!!

πŸ€” I mean, think about it... this game was like life itself - you never know what's gonna happen next. One minute you're up, the next you're tied, and then BAM! You score the winning goal. It's all about being in the moment, right? Kendall Coyne Schofield's goal was like a punch to the gut - it came out of nowhere and changed everything. But that's what makes it so beautiful, I guess. The back-and-forth, the ebbs and flows... it's just like how we go through our own lives, you know? Ups and downs, twists and turns. And in the end, it's all about being present and seizing the moment. πŸ’οΈπŸ’ͺ
