George R.R. Martin Almost Planned a Very Different Kind of Targaryen Power for 'Game of Thrones'

I think its awesome how George R.R. Martin initially had a pyro power set for Targaryens but Phyllis Eisenstein convinced him to go with dragons instead lol fire powers would be so cool though . I mean, who wouldn't want to be able to control flames? Anyway, its great that his writing experience in science fiction influenced the world of Game of Thrones. The dragons added a whole new level of depth and excitement to the show. I love how it turned out in the end but its interesting to see what could've been

so like martin was thinking about doing something totally different with targaryens - pyro powers lol can you even imagine? but then phyllis convinced him to go with real dragons and now it's what makes the show so iconic I think it's cool that he drew inspiration from sci-fi stuff, telepathy and empathy and all that. it adds a layer of depth to the world-building, you know? and yeah the symbolism of the different animals - lions, wolves, dragons... each one is like its own mini-story within the show

OMG u guys ! Did u know that George R.R. Martin initially considered Targaryens w/ pyro powers?! Like, fire magic was gonna be a thing! Can u imagine Daenerys w/ telepathy and the ability to control flames? But his friend Phyllis convinced him that dragons were where it's at ! Martin even drew inspiration from sci-fi stories about psionic abilities... Mind. Blown. The Lannisters have lions, Starks have wolves, but Targaryens got dragons ! It just goes to show u can't predict what's gonna happen in a story

You know I'm still obsessed with GoT! So I was reading this article about how George R.R. Martin initially thought the Targaryens would have pyro powers instead of just controlling dragons. It's wild to think about how different the show would be if they had powers like that. Can you imagine Daenerys having telepathic abilities and being able to start fires with her mind? The concept actually sounds kinda cool! Martin was influenced by sci-fi stories about people with psionic powers, which is really interesting. I love how his friend Phyllis Eisenstein convinced him to go with the dragon idea instead, because let's be real, who doesn't love dragons?!
