'It's very embarrassing': Sophie Turner on rage, romance and the horror of watching Game of Thrones

Sophie Turner finds herself in a precarious situation - watching Game of Thrones with her own family. The 29-year-old actress, who played Sansa Stark in the hit HBO series, admits that it's been an uncomfortable experience.

For Turner, who has since moved on to more dramatic roles like Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse and Zara in Steal, a Prime Video drama about corporate heists, her portrayal of Sansa was a pivotal part of her early career. However, she now acknowledges that playing the anxious and aristocratic character at such a young age was not ideal.

"It's very embarrassing," Turner says, reflecting on her experience. "Imagine if you were learning to sing, and all your lessons had been filmed and broadcast." She compares herself to an actor trying to learn lines for the first time, only to find that she needs to re-learn them when the real thing comes around.

Turner credits Game of Thrones with catapulting her to stardom, but also admits that it made her realize how important momentum is in a career. After taking a break from acting following its conclusion, Turner returned to screen with Steal, which offers a departure from the high-stakes world she's become accustomed to.

Despite struggling with comedy, Turner has expressed interest in exploring lighter roles. "I actually think comedy is a lot harder than drama," she states, revealing her scientific approach to the genre.

Steal, which premiered on Prime Video earlier this month, showcases Turner as the lead character Zara - an office drone who finds herself at the center of a corporate heist. The film features a talented cast, including Archie Madekwe, and has been praised for its originality and tense atmosphere.

Turner's journey back to acting marks an exciting new chapter in her career, one that promises high-stakes action sequences, thrilling plot twists, and some much-needed levity - perhaps even on the horizon.

I feel Sophie Turner is being totally real here 😊. She's like "hey I was a huge part of Game of Thrones, but now it's kinda awkward watching it with my fam" . I mean, can you imagine having your most iconic roles broadcast for everyone to see? It's like trying to learn lines for the first time all over again πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. But on the bright side, she's taking a different approach now - comedy! πŸ‘ She says it's harder than drama, which I think is kinda true πŸ€”. Anyway, Steal looks promising and I'm curious to see how Turner rocks her new role πŸ˜„

omg u guys Sophie Turner is like my ultimate example of how to pivot from a hit show 🀯 Game of Thrones catapulted her to stardom but she's now all about that drama life after realizing how important it is to have momentum in ur career πŸš€ meanwhile, I'm team Zara all the way from Steal - who else is loving this original corporate heist vibes? 😎 Turner's willingness to take risks and try out lighter roles like comedy is so inspiring πŸ’– she's literally the ultimate reminder that it's never too late to try something new 🌟

omg u gotta think about this... Sophie Turner is literally talking about how playing Sansa Stark for so long kinda stunted her growth as an actress 🀯 she's trying to break out of that "anxious aristocrat" type and into more comedy roles, but it's like, her whole career was built on that one character πŸ˜‚ what if the entire world saw her try to do comedy after Game of Thrones? 🎬 the irony is real... but i gotta wonder, did HBO ever consider how their show would affect Sophie's mental health while she was playing Sansa? πŸ€”

omg u guys i just can't even lol so sophie turner is saying that watching game of thrones with her own family was super awkward ummmm imagine having to watch ur whole childhood play out on tv for everyone 2 see and it's like she's saying we should be careful w/ how we present ourselves as adults because u never know when u'll b watching urself in a movie or something 🀣 anyway i think its cool that shes trying new things now like comedy she's actually funny lol not always but i think she's got potential

OMG 🀯 Sophie Turner is totally feeling me right now! Watching herself as Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones with her own fam? That's like watching a video of your kid being a diva all over again πŸ˜‚πŸ‘€. I feel her on the anxiety part, too - imagine having to re-learn those lines for real and not knowing if you can pull it off πŸ€”πŸ’₯. But hey, at least she took the leap and tried comedy in Steal! That's gotta be super nerve-wracking, but I'm low-key rooting for her πŸ’ͺ🏽. Can't wait to see what's next for this talented actress - more action-packed movies or maybe even a few laughs πŸŽ¬πŸ˜‚ #GameOfThrones #SophieTurner #ActingStruggles #ComedyTryout

OMG, I feel so bad for Sophie Turner πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ‘€! Watching Game of Thrones with her own family sounds like a total awkward moment πŸ˜³πŸ“Ί. But hey, at least she's being real about it and using it as an opportunity to learn from the experience πŸ’‘. And can we talk about how amazing she is for taking on lighter roles like Steal? 🎬πŸ’₯ I'm all for her trying out comedy - I think she'd be hilarious in a rom-com or something πŸ˜‚πŸ‘«! Prime Video just dropped this talented actress and I am HERE. FOR. IT πŸ’―πŸŽ‰ #SophieTurner #GameOfThrones #Steal #ComedyActor #PrimeVideo

omg I cant believe Sophie Turner is being honest about watching Game of Thrones with her own family lol imagine being that awkward 🀣 she's come a long way from playing Sansa Stark in my opinion tho πŸ˜‚ and now she's getting to explore more genres like comedy which is cool I think it's interesting how momentum plays a big role in her career, maybe thats what she needed after Game of Thrones took over her life for so long 🀯 anyway Steal sounds like a fun watch can't wait to see what else she does next! πŸ‘

🚨 just read that Sophie Turner had a meltdown watching Game of Thrones with her family lol she's literally trying to relearn lines from when she was 17... can't even imagine having to film yourself laughing at your own mistakes πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ also, I'm low-key impressed she tried comedy after struggling and is now exploring lighter roles? maybe this is the break she needs 🀞

Watching Game of Thrones with her own family? 🀯 That's gotta be awkward. At least she took a break to figure herself out after going from anxious Sansa to... well, whatever Zara is supposed to be in Steal. πŸ˜… Comedy's hard, apparently - I mean, who wouldn't struggle with comedy when you've had Sansa-level anxiety? But hey, good for her trying something new. Maybe she'll find her footing (or a decent joke) now. 🀞

I'm so with Sophie Turner on this one! Watching Game of Thrones with my own family is like watching a different show altogether 🀯. I mean, she played Sansa Stark at such a young age and now it's embarrassing to watch herself as a teenager πŸ˜‚. Can you imagine if your childhood drama moments were recorded and shared? Not cool. She's right that momentum in acting is key and taking breaks can be beneficial. Now she's back with Steal, which sounds like way more fun - I love the idea of her playing an office drone who gets caught up in a corporate heist πŸ€”. Maybe we'll see more lighthearted roles from her now? Fingers crossed! πŸ˜„

I can imagine how awkward it must be for Sophie Turner to watch Game of Thrones with her own family... 🀯 I mean, who wants to relive their childhood drama at home? πŸ˜‚ At least she's taking a more mature approach to comedy now, and I'm intrigued by Steal - the whole corporate heist thing sounds kinda cool, and Archie Madekwe is awesome. Maybe she'll finally be able to relax on screen without all the angst πŸ˜….

πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Sophie Turner is literally reliving her teenage years all over again watching Game of Thrones with her own fam lol, but I'm kinda with her on this one... playing Sansa at 29 sounds super awkward πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ and now she's trying to balance comedy after drama? πŸ˜‚ that's like trying to switch from a Mercedes to a Vespa mid-road trip, it's gonna be interesting to see how she lands on her feet πŸ’ͺ

omg I can imagine how awkward it must be for Sophie Turner to watch Game of Thrones with her own family lol 🀣 like, she's playing Sansa Stark in real life now, no pressure right? πŸ˜‚ anyway, i think its so cool that she's taking on new roles and exploring different genres - comedy, who knows? 😊 maybe she'll surprise us all and become a stand-up comedian πŸ˜‰. Steal seems really interesting too, Zara sounds like a great character, cant wait to watch it! πŸ‘€
