Just more than a decade ago, architect Frank Gehry proposed a dramatic change to the Rocky Steps

🤔 I feel bad for those fans of Rocky who were really attached to the steps as it is... it's like a part of their history and nostalgia 🏃‍♂️. But at the same time, can you blame Frank Gehry for wanting to innovate and push boundaries? The new design did look pretty cool and would've added some awesome views of the city 🌆. I wish they could've found a way to make it work without alienating everyone, but sometimes compromise is hard 🤷‍♂️.

What do you guys think about this whole thing? Should iconic landmarks be preserved for nostalgia's sake or should architects have free rein to create something new and exciting? 🤔👀

the whole thing is pretty wild - i mean who would've thought that a 24-foot window would spark so much drama in philly? 🤯 it's crazy how passionate people get about altering something as iconic as the rocky steps... for me, it's all about balance and subtlety in architecture. yeah, sure Gehry's design is bold, but you can't just rip out half the stairs without considering the impact on tourists & locals alike. i guess that's what makes the museum so special - it's always pushing boundaries & evolving 🌆

I'm still intrigued by the bold proposal from Frank Gehry back in 2014. 🤔 It's fascinating to see how the public reaction was so polarized - some people loved the idea of a dramatic transformation, while others were fiercely protective of the iconic Rocky Steps. I think it says a lot about the attachment people have towards the museum and its history.

It's interesting that Gehry himself said he wanted to be discreet, but at the same time, his proposal was so forward-thinking and innovative. I wonder what would've happened if he had been able to bring his vision to life. 🤯 The fact that it didn't happen has left a lasting mark on the museum, though.

I do think it's worth noting how Gehry's humility in design is reflected in his statement about wanting to be overlooked - it's such an interesting paradox. He's a true visionary, but one who also recognizes the importance of subtlety in architecture. 💡

I think its kinda weird how some ppl still get worked up over a design change that didnt even happen lol 🤷‍♂️. I mean, i get it, its the rocky steps and all but come on! its just a few feet of stairs and some glass wall. Gehry's actual contribution to the museum was pretty cool tho like the vaulted walkway thingy 👍

I dont no how ppl feel about it but i think its kinda cool that frank gehry wanna make a big change to those rocky steps 😊. like who wouldn't wanna see some massive windows in philly skyline? 🌆 its defo gonna stir up some controversy tho, and ill be sad if they dont end up doin it 🤕. museums r all about creatin somethin new n innovatn. 100 yrs from now ppl will stil be talkin bout this bold proposal 👀.
