Justin Crawford headlines Phillies' non-roster spring training invites

The wait is almost over as spring training is just around the corner, and one of the most anticipated players is ready to make his mark. Justin Crawford, a highly touted prospect picked 17th overall in 2022's draft, is leading the charge among non-roster invites for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Crawford will be joining top prospects Aidan Miller (27th overall in 2023) and Dante Nori (27th overall in 2024), along with a slew of other promising players vying for starting outfield spots. Manager Rob Thomson, along with president Dave Dombrowski, have made it clear that Crawford has the potential to take one of those positions.

The Phillies have extended invitations to 27 non-roster players, giving these top prospects a chance to prove themselves in front of coaches and scouts. The roster includes:

Infielders: Anthony, Cairo, DeMartini, Escobar, Miller, Peguero, Reyes, Rincon, Rodriguez
Outfielders: Campbell, Crawford, Cruz, Nori, De La Cruz

Crawford boasts impressive stats from last season in the IronPigs, slashing .334/.411/.452 in 80 games. The 22-year-old is looking to take his game to the next level and earn a spot on the big league roster.

However, Miller, the top infield prospect, also has high expectations and could make some noise this spring if he maintains his trajectory. The 21-year-old right-handed bat showed promise in Triple-A Lehigh Valley last season, slashing .333/.514/.519 in an eight-game sample.

As the Phillies look to shake up their lineup, Crawford's path to a starting spot is clear. He has the most direct route to earning a major league job among all invitees. With spring training just around the corner, fans are eagerly awaiting the first glimpse of these top prospects in action.

I'm hyped for this upcoming season 🀩! Crawford's stats from last year were insane and I think he's got a real shot at making an impact. But let's not count out Miller just yet 😏, that kid's got some serious pop in his bat. Nori's got the upside too, but I'm not sure if he'll be able to translate it to the big leagues. Still excited for spring training and seeing these kids in action 🏟️!

Man I'm super hyped for this spring training 🀩! Crawford and Miller are gonna bring some heat, no doubt about it πŸ”₯. The Phillies have a solid lineup to shake up, and if both can deliver, we're looking at a championship contender ⚾️. But you know how it goes in baseball - injuries, trades... anything can happen 😬. Either way, I'm here for the excitement πŸŽ‰! Crawford's got some serious juice, slashing .334/.411/.452 last season. Not bad for a 22-year-old rookie 🀯. Miller's got his own thing going on, too. The competition is gonna be fierce, but if anyone can make it happen, these two are top contenders πŸ’ͺ.
