Ugh man, can you believe some people would do something so reckless? like a 34-minute lockdown just for nothing it's wild how fake calls like that can create so much panic and stress for everyone involved... the kid made that call thinking they could get attention or money but instead they just caused a huge commotion and now they're facing charges, good on 'em
I'm so on board with these lawmakers trying to crack down on swatting incidents ... but at the same time, I think it's kinda harsh to make swatting a felony offense I mean, it's just a prank call, right? It's not like someone was actually planning a school shooting or anything . And what about the potential consequences for people who get caught up in these online groups and end up making false reports out of desperation or boredom? Don't they deserve some kind of leniency too?
On the other hand, I do think it's ridiculous that lawmakers can't even agree on a simple bill . Like, can't we just have one law that treats swatting seriously without being too extreme? It's like we're stuck in this perpetual cycle of "either too harsh or not harsh enough" . Ugh, politics...
