La Rondine review – new version of Puccini's opera makes aftertaste bitter rather than sweet

omg u guys I'm so obsessed with la rondine rn 🤩 i know some ppl might be like "oh its just puccini's version" but trust me the 1921 one is EVERYTHING 🔥 it was so raw and emotional, like, ruggero's character arc is so much more complex now. and ermonela jaho's magda is giving me LIFE 💖 her voice might not have been the strongest but she made up for it with her acting skills and stage presence. Iván ayón-rivas as ruggero tho 🤩 his vocals are insane! cant wait to see how this new version changes our perception of la rondine 👀

OMG 🤩 just saw La Rondine at Opera Rara and it was LIFE CHANGING!!! 😍 Ditlev Rindom's reconstruction work did wonders to bring back the 1921 version, and Martin Fitzpatrick's orchestrations were PURE MAGIC ✨ Carlo Rizzi as conductor is a GENIUS 🙌 Ermonela Jaho's Magda was stunning, but Iván Ayón-Rivas' Ruggero took center stage and GAVE. ME. CHILLS 😲🎶 gotta experience this new version ASAP!!!

🎶 just had the most incredible night at the opera 🎭 and i'm still reeling from it ... puccini's la rondine is no joke, that final version with ruggero getting sent away is TO DIE FOR 💔 but what really got me was iván ayón-rivas' performance as ruggero - his voice is insane 🔥 the way he brought this character to life was nothing short of breathtaking 😍

Ugh I'm so over Puccini's La Rondine already 😒. People are raving about how beautiful the opera is but honestly it just seems like a bunch of rich people problems to me. Like, Magda's all high and mighty because she's got some guy who can pay her for her time, meanwhile Ruggero's over here getting rejected because he's not good enough 🙄. And don't even get me started on the ending - it's like Puccini just wanted to make a bitter aftertaste that'll leave you feeling all sour and stuff 😒. But I guess it's kinda cool that the old score was lost in WWII or whatever, so now we can experience it as originally intended 👍...or something 🤷‍♂️

🤔 just listened to La Rondine and gotta say, Puccini's genius is still intact even with all these changes 😍 Carlo Rizzi's conducting skills were on point, and Ermonela Jaho's voice was so beautiful it gave me chills 🌫️ but Iván Ayón-Rivas' Ruggero stole the show for sure 🔥 would love to see more of him on stage 🎭

I'm still reeling from that La Rondine performance at Opera Rara 🤩! I mean, I've seen both versions now and gotta say, Puccini's intentions were always about Ruggero's downfall 😔. What really got me was how they balanced the orchestra and the cast – it felt like a perfect blend of sass and heart ❤️. And Ermonela Jaho, girl, you slayed! I know some might say her voice gets lost in the mix, but trust me, she brings this character to life with every step 💃🕺. Now that this new version is out, I'm curious – will it change our perception of La Rondine's ending? Only time'll tell 🤔, but I'm all for experiencing Puccini's magic again 🎵.
