A 23-year-old man's life was brutally cut short in a hail of gunfire on Tuesday evening when he was fatally shot on the Lower West Side. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was standing near a parking lot at around 5:30 p.m. when an SUV suddenly appeared and its occupant emerged with a gun.
The perpetrator then fired shots in the man's direction, striking him multiple times in the head, shoulder, and chest. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire, but no one witnessed the entire incident or saw the offender flee the scene.
After being transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The SUV, which is believed to be a key piece of evidence in the investigation, remains at large, with detectives working tirelessly to track it down.
As of now, no one has been taken into custody, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Detectives are reviewing security footage and canvassing the area for witnesses who may have seen something suspicious around the time of the incident.
