Man arrested for shoving NYC subway rider onto Brooklyn tracks, NYPD says

Man Arrested for Savage Subway Attack in Brooklyn

A shocking incident occurred at a Brooklyn subway station over the weekend when 39-year-old Ivan Negron allegedly shoved a commuter onto the tracks. According to NYPD officials, Negron was walking through the Union Square station around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday and was identified from surveillance photos released by the department.

Negron is accused of attempting to assault another man at the 36th Street stop in Sunset Park on Sunday morning at approximately 5 a.m. The victim, a 35-year-old man, was standing on the southbound R train platform when Negron approached him and pushed him towards the edge of the tracks.

Miraculously, the victim sustained only minor injuries and was taken to NYU Langone Hospitalโ€“Brooklyn for treatment. What's even more disturbing is that Negron did not utter a word to the other man before committing the act, highlighting the shocking level of brutality.

Police revealed that Negron is currently homeless and does not have immediate representation. The arrest marks one of at least four violent episodes in the city's transit system during the holiday weekend, according to police data.

Interestingly, major transit crime declined by 4% last year compared to 2024, with only a dozen more incidents reported so far this year relative to the same period last year. However, this latest incident raises questions about whether recent trends are being reversed or if new factors are contributing to increased violent crimes on our public transportation system.

Negron is currently facing charges and will appear in Brooklyn Criminal Court.

๐Ÿšจ you know I told u that NYC is gonna see a rise in subway attacks this year lol but no one's listening ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway, this Ivan Negron dude is straight up psycho ๐Ÿคฏ shove someone onto the tracks just like that? what was he even thinking?! ๐Ÿ™„ and homeless too, like, you'd think that would be a red flag or something, but nope ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

anyway, I'm glad the victim only had minor injuries, could've been way worse ๐Ÿค• but it's still crazy to me how violent people can get in crowded places like subways ๐Ÿš‚ it's just not right

and 4% decline last year was a nice trend, but now this ๐Ÿ”„ back to normal, I guess? we'll see what happens with Ivan Negron's case and if the city's transit system is gonna stay safe ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿค• Ugh, this just gives me the chills man... I mean, who does that? It's like, basic human decency, you know? Not having to resort to violence or aggression towards another person, especially on public transportation where people are already stressed and overwhelmed. The fact that he didn't even say a word to the guy before pushing him onto the tracks is just terrifying... I can only imagine how traumatic that must've been for the victim.

And to think about it happened at Union Square station, of all places! It's like, what was going through his mind? Was he having some kind of mental breakdown or did he really not care about anyone else? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ As a city, we need to be taking proactive steps to prevent these kinds of incidents from happening in the future... but at the same time, I gotta say, it's also kinda sad that we're seeing more and more violent crimes on our public transportation system. It just feels like we're losing some of our humanity, you know? ๐Ÿ˜”

Ugh, another day, another dude being a human garbage disposal ๐Ÿšฎ. Like, what's wrong with people these days? Can't even walk down the subway without being a savage ๐Ÿ˜’. And to think he didn't even have the decency to say sorry...like, hello, human courtesy is not that hard, bro ๐Ÿ‘‹.

And yeah, I'm sure the homeless thing is just a coincidence...or so we can pretend. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I mean, who needs social services or housing when you've got a good old-fashioned subway shove to pass the time? ๐Ÿ™„ At least he's consistent with the rest of us NYC folk...we all love our trains, right? ๐Ÿ˜‚ (Just kidding, kinda).

Seriously though, 4% decline in major transit crime is awesome...but one violent incident is definitely not gonna change that ๐ŸŽ‰. And can we talk about how easy it is to get away with this stuff when you're homeless and don't have representation? Like, shouldn't our justice system be better than that? ๐Ÿค”

I'm not surprised by this latest subway attack ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’”. It just goes to show how people have become completely desensitized to the struggles of others. I mean, what's even more disturbing is that Negron didn't even say sorry or anything after shoving some poor guy onto the tracks! What kind of world are we living in?

I'm also a bit skeptical about those surveillance photos being used as evidence ๐Ÿค”. How can we trust that they're accurate? And what about the fact that Negron is homeless and doesn't have representation? That's just another layer to the problem. We need to address the root causes of violence, like poverty and lack of access to resources, rather than just reacting with more police presence ๐Ÿš”.

And let's be real, a 4% decline in major transit crime last year is hardly a cause for celebration ๐ŸŽ‰. That might just be a short-term fluke or a sign that we're not taking the issue seriously enough. We need to get serious about keeping our public transportation system safe and secure ๐Ÿ”’.

Ugh, I'm still shakin' my head thinkin' 'bout that subway attack ๐Ÿคฏ. Like, what's goin' through that person's mind? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Ivan Negron just walks up to some stranger, pushes him onto the tracks, and nothin'? No words, no explaination... just pure brutality ๐Ÿ’”. I feel so bad for the victim, man - minor injuries but still, it could've been a lot worse ๐Ÿค•.

And to make matters even more messed up, Negron is homeless? That's just heartbreaking ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. How do people end up in that state? You'd think with all the resources out there, we should be able to help each other out more ๐Ÿค.

I'm glad he got caught and charged, but I gotta wonder - what's causin' these violent episodes on public transportation lately? We've been seein' a decline in major transit crimes last year, so it's weird that this happens now ๐Ÿค”. Maybe we should be lookin' at some new factors or just keep doin' the same things we always have? Not sure what to think about it all ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

omg u dont no wut kinda psycho do's that ๐Ÿ˜ฑ so 39 yr old ivan negron tries 2 shove some dude onto the tracks in brooklyn subway station and its just crazy how he didnt even say sorry lol but seriously tho what r we gonna do bout ppl who r like this?? ๐Ÿค” i mean transit crime did go down last year but now w/ this new incident u start wonderin if its all bcos of overcrowding or smthn ๐Ÿ˜• anyway ivan negron is homeless and dont have rep so yeah probs he'll get help ๐Ÿคž

man... just read about this subway guy who literally shoved someone onto the tracks ๐Ÿคฏ. i mean, can u even believe that? no warning, no nothing. just a random shove. and to make matters worse, he's homeless. like, what's going on with our society right now? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ we need to do something about this. transit crime is already low, so this one incident shouldnt be making headlines. it feels like we're seeing a reversal of progress. anyway, glad the victim survived with just minor injuries ๐Ÿ’ช. just hope the dude who did this gets the help he needs, not just behind bars ๐Ÿคž.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the brutality of that subway attack ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, a shove onto the tracks can be deadly, and it's just mind-boggling that Ivan Negron didn't even have the decency to say anything to the guy before he pushed him. It's like he was completely devoid of empathy or humanity.

As for me, I think this incident highlights the need for better mental health support and resources for people struggling with homelessness ๐Ÿค. If Negron had access to some kind of counseling or support services, maybe he wouldn't have resorted to such a violent act. And what's even more concerning is that this isn't an isolated incident โ€“ we've seen at least three other violent episodes on the subway over the holiday weekend.

I'm also wondering if our overall crime statistics are being skewed by the fact that we're seeing fewer incidents, but each one is having a much greater impact than in the past ๐Ÿ“Š. I mean, four percent might not seem like a lot, but when you consider how many people ride those trains every day, even a small number of violent incidents can have a big impact on public perception.

Overall, I think we need to keep having these conversations about what's driving violent behavior in our cities and whether our current policies are doing enough to prevent it ๐Ÿ’ก.

๐Ÿค” what's up with these subway attacks lately?? i mean, 4% decline in major transit crime last year sounds good but now we got this guy shoving people onto the tracks... ๐Ÿ˜ฑ like, no reason at all? no warning? just brutal ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ˜ก and poor dude who got shoved had only minor injuries tho, hopefully he's ok ๐Ÿ’ช

and homeless guy with no representation? that's not his fault, man... what we can do to help him instead of just putting him behind bars? ๐Ÿค also, 4% decline in major transit crime is a good start but if incidents are starting to rise again, we need to figure out why & what's being done to prevent it ๐Ÿ’ก

Ugh, another crazy story on the subway ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ‘Ž. Like, what's going on with people these days? Can't they just leave each other alone? I'm not trying to be one of those "blame the system" people, but come on, 4% decrease in major transit crime is a good thing! And now we're seeing this kind of stuff happen again. I don't get why Negron didn't even have a word for himself after what he did... just a total lack of human decency ๐Ÿ˜’. And to think, this guy was homeless and didn't have representation... sounds like the system failed him somehow. Anyway, let's hope justice is served and people start taking responsibility for their actions ๐Ÿคž

omg this dude's actions r beyond brutal he literally pushed some guy to the tracks with no warning at all ๐Ÿคฏ it's so sad that the victim didn't get more serious injuries tho i feel bad for him too... like how can someone just be that violent without saying a word? ๐Ÿ˜” anyway, hope Ivan Negron gets help and whatever he needs because this is crazy... and 4% less transit crimes last year was actually pretty awesome ๐Ÿ™Œ but now it seems like things might be going in the opposite direction... ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿ˜• I'm really worried about people like Ivan Negron who lash out at others without thinking of the consequences... ๐Ÿ˜ค it's just not right that he could do something so brutal to someone else, especially on a train where you're supposed to feel safe. ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ’” He's lucky the other guy wasn't hurt worse! ๐Ÿ™

OMG, u guyz!!! ๐Ÿคฏ just saw dis news & I'm literally SHOOK ๐Ÿ˜ฒ! like, 4% less transit crime last year was a great sign ๐Ÿ™Œ but now dis... Ivan Negron is literally a monster ๐Ÿ˜ก! no warning at all before he shoved that dude onto the tracks ๐Ÿšซ?! and to think he's homeless ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. major kudos to the NYPD for catching him ASAP ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ. what's going on in this city tho? ๐Ÿ’” is it just a random spike or r there other factors at play? ๐Ÿค” need some answers ASAP ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘€

omg u wont believe what just happened... some dude shove a stranger onto the subway tracks... like what even is that? but here's the thing, the guy was super lucky he didnt get killed lol. i mean, think about it if this wasnt for the surveillance pics and someone spotting him on the train, who knows how much longer we wouldve known about this? & did u see that hes homeless? like we all need a little help sometimes, right? anywayz, only 4% less crime in transit last yr is still pretty cool imo

Just saw that crazy subway attack in Brooklyn... ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ what's wrong with ppl? Like, no word spoken before shoving someone on the tracks? That's just savage. Homeless or not, that don't excuse violent behavior. Good thing the victim was okay. Wonder if this guy had some underlying issues or if it was just a heat of moment thing... ๐Ÿค” still shaken about this one ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I mean, can you even imagine pushing someone onto the subway tracks like that?! It's so senseless ๐Ÿคฏ. I feel bad for the guy who got shoved, lucky he only got minor injuries ๐Ÿ’ช. But what's even more concerning is that Negron didn't say a word to him before doing it, it's just so... brutal ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. As if he didn't care about human life or dignity at all ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And the fact that he's homeless and doesn't have a lawyer already is just cherry on top of this mess ๐Ÿต. We need to figure out why this guy felt so desperate to lash out like that ๐Ÿ˜”. On one hand, it's good to hear that transit crimes are down overall, but incidents like this make you wonder if we're losing our grip on community ๐Ÿ’”.
