Meta cuts deals with several news publishers for AI use

IMAGES OF A SLEEPY BEAR 🐻😴 I JUST DON'T GET WHY META WOULD START PAYING OUT TO NEWS OUTLETS NOW. THEY ALREADY HAVE LIKE A MILLION YEARS OF CONTENT THAT THEY CAN USE FOR THEIR CHATBOTS. IT SEEMS LIKE THEY'RE TRYING TO BUY THE FAVOR OF THESE OUTLETS RATHER THAN ACTUALLY PROVIDING VALUE THROUGH THEIR CHATBOTS. BUT MAYBE I'M JUST OLD SCHOOL AND DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW AI WORKS 🤖💻
 
I'm not sure I buy into all this, you know? Like, they're basically paying these outlets to share their content with AI chatbots... it's a bit weird. And what's up with Fox News and co. getting in on the action too? Are we really supposed to believe that Meta is just out of the goodness of its heart partnering with all these news pubs? 🤔 I mean, have you seen how algorithms work? This could just be a clever way to manipulate public opinion or something... not sure I trust it.
