In Indonesia, A Mother's Desperate Escape
Sri Yuni Pardede clutched her baby tightly as a landslide swept through their community in North Tapanuli. The heavy downpour had triggered devastating landslides that destroyed villages and displaced hundreds of thousands of people.
As the treacherous terrain shifted beneath them, Sri found herself fighting to save her child's life alongside others who were desperately trying to escape. "I held my baby close and we both fell," she recounted. "We slid down with the mud and dirt, but I managed to grab onto a tree branch."
Miraculously, Sri was able to climb out of the debris, though it took an eternity. "The landslide was so fast that I couldn't even see what was happening around me," she said.
Despite the trauma experienced by Sri and her child, they were eventually rescued by aid workers. The full scale of the disaster in Indonesia remains unclear, but widespread landslides have left hundreds of thousands without a home.
Sri's harrowing escape from the landslide is just one more example of the many lives lost or forever changed by the recent Indonesian floods.

i feel so bad for her and all those other ppl who got affected by this disaster... like what even is a landslide lol how do u survive that?! 
anyway, i think the gov should totes help out more with rebuilding homes and stuff, not just send aid workers in 
they gotta make sure these ppl get back on their feet, u feel? 
. I mean, can you even imagine having to fight for your life with your kid in a landslide? It's like, what if she wasn't holding on tight and got swept away too?! 
And then the fact that they had to spend who knows how long stuck in the mud... it's just so thoughtless of Mother Nature, you know? I don't even get why this keeps happening in our world 
. We should be able to plan for these disasters now, not have to live through them

. Anyway, I hope everyone who was affected by those floods gets the support they need and can start rebuilding their lives again soon

I don't think we're getting the full picture here... 200,000 people displaced and not much info about what led up to these landslides? Like, were they caused by deforestation or something else entirely? 
Sources would be super helpful in understanding the severity of this disaster. Also, how did aid workers manage to rescue people trapped under all that debris without any casualties? The timing also seems a bit suspicious... was it just a coincidence that Sri happened to survive when so many others didn't?
