NIH funds new cat experiments despite pledge to phase them out, watchdog reports

I'm like totally baffled by this news 🤯... I mean, come on! After all the hype about phasing out cat experiments, it's like the NIH just decided to keep on truckin' with these projects without really stopping them 🚫. And now they're giving millions of dollars to study kittens and kill them, all for what? To help humans with glaucoma? I'm no scientist, but can't they find other ways to do that? It's like they're not even trying to be transparent about their plans or anything 😒... the whole thing just feels sketchy.

I'm not sure what's more concerning here... the fact that they're still funding these experiments or the fact that they're using kittens for one of them 🤔. I mean, think about it, we're talking about tiny little creatures with feelings and emotions, and we're basically treating them as test subjects without any regard for their well-being.

It's like, what's the point of all this experimentation? Can't we just find alternative methods that don't involve harming innocent animals? 🐱 I know some people might say "it's just science" but to me, it's about compassion and empathy. We should be using our intelligence and creativity to come up with better solutions, not exploiting vulnerable creatures for the sake of research.

And what really gets me is that they're arguing that there's no legal obligation to end these projects... doesn't that just highlight the flaws in our system? I mean, who gets to decide what's right or wrong here? 🤷‍♀️ The NIH, the government, or someone else entirely? It just seems like a whole mess of bureaucracy and red tape.
