I don’t usually comment but... I think it’s weird how they’re trying to be all balanced and stuff on 60 Minutes
. I mean, I get that they want to give airtime to all sides of the argument, but come on, Marjorie Taylor Greene is like, a crazy person
. Downplaying the January 6 attack? That’s just not cool
. And promoting Christian nationalism? That’s not something you talk about casually, you know?
It feels like they’re trying to be all neutral and stuff, but really they're just giving a platform to someone who's gonna stir up trouble
.
And honestly, I don’t think it's about ratings and revenue as much as people are making it out to be
. Like, sure, that might be part of it, but what about promoting actual values and critical thinking? That’s what the media should be doing
. It feels like they're just playing catch-up with the fringe voices instead of trying to have a real conversation about these issues
.
I don’t know, maybe I'm just too cynical
. But from where I'm sitting, it seems like 60 Minutes is more interested in being liked by everyone than actually doing some hard work to promote critical thinking and nuance
.
