Resolution festival review – admin hell, an epic club night and flamenco voguing

At the Place's Resolution festival, three new choreographers took to the stage to showcase their innovative and thought-provoking work. Seirian Griffiths' Interchange was a standout piece, a poignant solo that delved into themes of grief, loss, and identity.

Griffiths' use of movement was both powerful and intimate, with quicksilver transitions between bursts of emotion. The hip-hop stylings added a sense of urgency, as if the dancer's emotions were overflowing like a dam about to burst. The piece was elevated by Griffiths' own coiled compositions, which infused the dance with an undercurrent of tension.

Despite its many strengths, Interchange also had some moments where it felt unfinished, like Michael, the soloist, who is left with his excess baggage to process. However, this did not detract from the overall impact of the piece, which lingered long after the music stopped.

In contrast, Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes was a high-energy rave-inspired dance that captured the frenetic pace of a night out on the town. The dancers moved with a fluidity and freedom that belied the intensity of their movements, creating a sense of a communal experience where everyone was lost in the music.

The fusion of club culture and Chinese choreography resulted in a piece that was both exhilarating and thought-provoking. While it may not have been entirely successful, the joys of Archive/Flesh/Echoes lay in its inventive movement and the sense of release that came with letting go.

Finally, Isadora D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos brought together two seemingly disparate styles - flamenco and voguing - to create a unique fusion. While the piece was not without its flaws, it was notable for its inventiveness, particularly in the ways that D'Héloïsa used her hands and arms to convey emotion.

Ultimately, Resolution festival's triple bill of new choreography demonstrated that dance can be both a powerful tool for expression and a catalyst for connection.

I just caught up on this thread lol 😂. I loved seeing all these talented new choreographers take the stage! Seirian Griffiths' Interchange was so emotional, it gave me chills 🤯. The way she incorporated hip-hop into her piece was genius - added such an edgy vibe to it. Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes was so high-energy and infectious 🎉. I loved how the dancers seemed to be lost in the music together. And Isadora D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos was just so bold and experimental, I love that kind of innovation in dance. For me, the only thing that kept Resolution festival from being perfect was the sense of "unfinishedness" around some of the pieces 🤔. But overall, it was a fantastic showcase for new talent 💖.

I THOUGHT THE NEW CHOREOGRAPHERS AT THE RESOLUTION FESTIVAL WERE AMAZING!!! SEIRIAN GRIFITHS' PIECE "INTERCHANGE" WAS SO POWERFUL AND EMOTIONAL, IT MADE ME FEEL ALL THE FEELS!!! I LOVED HOW QI SONG'S "ARCHIVE/FLESH/ECHOES" CARED NOT ABOUT ANYTHING BUT MOVING TO THAT ELECTRIFYING BEAT!!!! ISIDORA D'HELLOISA'S "ENTRECUERPOS" WAS A LITTLE FLUSTERED, BUT I GUESS THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRY TO BLEND TWO DIFFERENT STYLES!!! ALL IN ALL, IT WAS AN AMAZING LINEUP AND I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT RESOLUTION FESTIVAL!!!!!!!!!

I loved Seirian Griffiths' Interchange 🤩 it was so emotional I felt like I was right there with Michael, feeling all those intense emotions he was experiencing. The way the dancers moved was just incredible - so powerful and raw. I think what really stood out to me was how much depth there was in that one piece, even though it didn't feel super complete. It's like you can tell they're still working on it, but that's part of its charm right? 😊

omg i loved the diversity of styles at resolution fest 🤩🎉! seirian griffiths' interchange was so hauntingly beautiful 🌫️, but qi song's archive/flesh/echoes was like a total rush 💃🏽🔥! i'm not sure about isadora d'héloïsa's entrecuerpos tho... wasn't it kinda weird combining flamenco and voguing? 🤔 did anyone else feel that way? anyway, overall the festival showed us that dance can be so much more than just a pretty face 💁‍♀️👏. what do you guys think about fusion styles in choreography? 🤗

🤩 I'm totally stoked about the new choreographers at the Resolution festival! Seirian Griffiths' Interchange was mind-blowing, the way she merged hip-hop with contemporary dance was pure genius 💪! And Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes? Forget about it, that high-energy rave-inspired dance had me dancing in my seat 🕺️! But I gotta say, Isadora D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos was a bit of an experiment - loved the way she mashed up flamenco and voguing, though 😄. What really got me thinking, though, was how these pieces all dealt with themes of identity, grief, and loss... it just goes to show that dance can be so much more than just a pretty face 🤔. Can't wait to see what these young choreographers come up with next! 👏

omg i just got back from holiday 🏖️ and i'm still trying to process everything 😂 anyway did you know that there's this new mobile game that's kinda like a mix of puzzle and adventure? idk if u've played it but its actually pretty cool 🤔 i mean dance festivals are always so cool too... i loved the bit about qi song's piece being high-energy and exhilarating 🎉 but also kinda thought its flaws were what made it special? like, imperfections can be beautiful, right? 💖

Wow 🤩 Interesting how Qi Song's piece had this rave-inspired vibe but still managed to tap into the emotional release of letting go 💨. And I love how Isadora D'Héloïsa played with flamenco and voguing - it was like nothing I've ever seen before 🔥!

I totally get why some parts of Seirian Griffiths' piece felt unfinished 😊... I mean, it's like you're right there with the dancer, feeling all those emotions too! 🤕 And I love how Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes was like a high-energy party in dance form 💃... who doesn't love letting loose and having a good time? 🎉 But what really stood out to me was Isadora D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos - I mean, combining flamenco and voguing? That takes guts! 💪

I JUST LOVED THE FESTIVAL!!! I mean, SEIRIAN GRIFITHS' piece was like WHOA! The way the dancer just poured their emotions out onto the stage was AMAZING 🤩! And Qi Song's rave-inspired dance was SO COOL, it made me wanna get up and DANCE 🎉! Isadora D'Héloïsa's fusion of flamenco and voguing was SUPER INTERESTING, even if it had some moments where it felt a bit messy 🤷‍♀️. Overall, the whole festival just showed how powerful dance can be as an art form 💖! I'm SO inspired to watch more of these new choreographers now!

I gotta say, I was really loving Seirian Griffiths' Interchange... it felt so raw & emotional 🤯. But at the same time, I think Qi Song's Archive/Flesh/Echoes was like, super high-energy 🔥! Like, who doesn't love a good rave-inspired dance? 😂 And Isadora D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos... wow, that fusion of flamenco & voguing is straight fire 💁‍♀️. I do wish some of the pieces felt, like, totally complete though 🤔. But overall, I'm so here for the Resolution festival - it's all about new ideas & connections, right? 💖

🤔 those new choreographers think they're so innovative with their "thought-provoking" works... Interchange just seemed like a glorified cry-fest to me, like Griffiths is trying way too hard to make us feel sorry for him 🙄 and don't even get me started on the other two pieces - Qi Song's dance was just a bunch of random flailing around and D'Héloïsa's Entrecuerpos was awkwardly clunky... I mean, what's with all the fusion nonsense? Can't they just stick to one style already? 🤷‍♀️ at least Seirian Griffiths' piece didn't overstay its welcome, unlike some other pieces that dragged on forever 😴
