Ring can now verify if a video has been altered

Ring's latest innovation is a digital seal that confirms whether a downloaded video has been tamper-proofed, providing users with an added layer of security when reviewing footage captured by the camera. Dubbed Ring Verify, this tool scans videos for any alterations and issues a 'seal' that remains intact as long as the content hasn't been edited or manipulated in any way.

However, if a video is altered, whether it's adjusting brightness or trimming off seconds, the seal will break and the user will be notified that it cannot be verified. To utilize Ring Verify, users can simply upload their selected video to the tool's website.

What sets Ring Verify apart from other tools in its category is its ability to verify authenticity when it comes to AI-generated videos. With OpenAI's Sora model being particularly adept at producing high-quality Ring video doorbell footage with minimal prompts, this added functionality is crucial in preventing misinformation spread on social media platforms.

Ring has been embedding digital security seals into all of their models, starting December 2025, and will ensure that every downloaded video comes with one. Despite its capabilities, the tool does not verify editing history or whether a video is AI-generated; it only confirms or denies tampering.

im kinda surprised ring's jumping into this digital seal game, but i guess its about time they stepped up their security game πŸ€”. like, we all know how easily vids can get manipulated online and this tool could definitely help prevent misinformation from spreading on social media. the fact that it can detect AI-generated vids is a major win too - those sora models are getting pretty good at creating convincing footage.

but idk about all these digital seals just popping up on every vid... thats some wild tech πŸ€–. and what if ppl start using this as an excuse to sue people for alleged tampering? im not saying its not necessary, but ring needs to be careful how they roll out this feature. gotta think about the bigger picture here πŸ‘€

omg you guys are so gullible πŸ™„, thinking Ring Verify is gonna stop all fake vids on social media? please, that's just a small part of the problem... what about deepfakes created using like 5 different models? and btw, doesn't Ring itself have some history with AI-generated footage being super convincing on their doorbell cams? anyway, it's cool they're adding this feature and all, but let's not get our hopes up too high πŸ˜‚.

omg u guys! i'm low-key obsessed w/ ring's new feature 🀯 called ring verify!!! it's like, whoa... they're literally making videos super secure now lol. so u can upload any vid to their website and it'll scan it for changes & give u a 'seal' that says its legit πŸ”’ if someone tries 2 tamper w/ the vid tho, the seal breaks & u get notified 🚨

but what's really cool is it can detect when videos r AI-genearted... like, ring video doorbell footage is super easy 2 make w/ ai now, so this tool helps prevent misinformation from spreading online πŸ“Ί i wish they'd also check editing history tho πŸ€”

Omg I'm so hyped about Ring's latest innovation 🀩 - Verify! It's like, totally game changing for security and trust online. Having that 'seal' of authenticity can really make a difference when sharing vids on social media or something. I mean think about it... you're trying to spread the word about something important and someone tries to mess with the footage, but with Verify, everyone knows what's up πŸ’―. It's like having an extra layer of fact-checking, even if AI is getting more advanced at making vids look real πŸ€–. Can't wait for Dec 2025 when all Ring models come with this feature πŸ‘!

this new tech from Ring's sounds like a total double-edged sword to me... on one hand, having some kinda seal of approval that says a vid hasn't been messed with is super reassuring, especially when it comes to something as serious as evidence of crime... but then again its not like this thing can actually PROVE anything, right? I mean, what if the AI gen vids are just REALLY good at mimicking real footage now πŸ€–πŸ“Ή and we're still stuck in the dark ages of video verification?

I'm concerned about how this technology might be used in a way that's really problematic. I mean, think about it - if someone wants to create a fake video of, say, a crime happening at someone's house, they could use AI tools to make it look super real and then pass it off as genuine footage from the Ring doorbell camera. But what this new feature does is basically just verify that the footage hasn't been edited or manipulated... doesn't necessarily stop the spread of misinformation! It's like, if you can create a convincing fake video using AI, but the seal says it's authentic... who's to say?

πŸ”’πŸ’»πŸ€–πŸ˜Ž Just imagine someone trying to pass off fake footage of a tiger showing up at your doorstep... Ring's got you covered! πŸ”₯ With this new tech, the "Ring Verify" seal of approval is on πŸ”΄β›”οΈ for real security! πŸ‘

πŸ€” man I just think about this digital seal thingy and how it relates to our society's obsession with authenticity... like we're constantly trying to figure out what's real and what's fake, and now tech companies are creating tools to help us do that. but is it just a band-aid on the issue of misinformation? and what does it say about us as a community that we need to be told if our videos have been tampered with? like can't we trust each other anymore? πŸ’»

I'm loving this new feature from Ring! 🀩 Digital seals are gonna be a game-changer for security enthusiasts and content creators alike! It's so frustrating when you're reviewing footage and someone edits it to make it look like something happened that didn't. This seal thing is like having a superpower that tells you if the video has been messed with.

But I'm curious, how long does this digital seal actually last? Like, if someone edits the video in like 5 seconds, will the seal break or take a minute to update? Also, what about AI-generated videos? That's where things get really interesting. I mean, we all know those super-realistic videos that are just too good to be true... this feature is like having a superhero cape to save us from misinformation! πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈ

I'm thinking Ring's got a solid move here... I mean, security is super important in today's digital age and misinformation can spread like wildfire 🚨. But at the same time, this new feature raises some interesting questions - what does 'tamper-proof' really mean? Is it just about detecting obvious edits or can it catch more nuanced stuff too? And let's not forget AI-generated vids are getting pretty realistic... how reliable is Ring Verify when it comes to spotting those? πŸ€”

πŸ€” I mean, can you imagine walking up to your door and seeing some edited footage of a 'break-in' that's actually just someone messing around with their phone πŸ“±? This Ring Verify thingy is like a big sigh of relief for people who want to know what's really going on πŸ™. I love how they're tackling AI-generated vids too, because let's be real, those can be super convincing πŸ€–. But yeah, it's not perfect and it doesn't cover everything... still a step in the right direction though! πŸ‘

omg i'm so glad they're adding this feature to ring devices - it's like, super annoying when u see fake vids online and u dont no if they're real or not πŸ€” especially with ai-gen vids coming out all the time πŸš€ anyway, its cool that ring is taking steps to prevent misinformation but idk how effective it'll be if ppl just edit vids on their phones and stuff πŸ’» still, i'm loving that they're making security a priority - less fake news and more trust in our devices is what we need πŸ™Œ

Just got notified about Ring's new digital seal thingy πŸ€”... sounds like they're trying to be all secure and whatnot, but I'm curious how this will play out in real life? Like, if someone edits a video to make it look super convincing, can the seal still detect that? And what about when the footage is from an AI-generated video - won't the seal just keep saying it's legit? Need more info on this one πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ...
