Shelter review – super-soldier Jason Statham does the business as he takes on Bill Nighy in action thriller

Jason Statham stars as Mason, a former special-forces operative haunted by his violent past, in the latest action-packed thriller "Shelter". This setup, reminiscent of classic franchises like Transporter and John Wick, has been done before, making it feel formulaic.

Statham reprises his role as a man on-the-run after being tracked down by MI6 due to a tragic boating accident. The young girl he takes under his wing sparks hope in Mason's tough exterior, but their bond is quickly turned upside down when the agency sends assassins to eliminate them. With the help of his loyal German Shepherd Jack and an unexpected ally, Jesse (Bodhi Rae Breathnach), Mason must fight for survival against seemingly insurmountable odds.

The film follows a predictable trajectory, with each action-packed sequence playing out like clockwork. However, it's hard to deny that Statham delivers on his signature brand of tough-guy charm, bringing authenticity to the role. The supporting cast, including Naomi Ackie as the new head of MI6, adds depth to an otherwise familiar plot.

What elevates "Shelter" is its impressive fight choreography and youthful talent, particularly from newcomer Bodhi Rae Breathnach. Her performance proves that she's a talented young actress with a bright future ahead. The film's most intriguing aspect may be the unlikely match-up between Statham's super-soldier Mason and Bill Nighy's sinister MI6 agent.

Ultimately, "Shelter" delivers on its promise of high-octane action, albeit within the boundaries of an overly familiar formula. While fans of Statham will likely appreciate his signature style, newcomers may find themselves yawning at the predictable plot twists. Nonetheless, the film's slick execution and young talent make it a passable addition to the action-thriller genre.

🤔 I mean, I watched "Shelter" last night and I gotta say, Jason Statham is still the man 😎, but it feels like we've seen this same story before. Remember that old Transporter movie from 2002? 🚗 Yeah, it's got a similar vibe to that one, which just goes to show how formulaic action films can be. But hey, at least Statham brings his A-game and delivers on his signature charm 💪. The new girl, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, is pretty cool too 👍. She's gotta have some serious skills to keep up with Statham in those fight scenes 🥊. The movie's got some nice moments, but it feels like we've seen this all before, you know? 🤷‍♂️

omg i was kinda hoping for something new from Jason Statham 🤔, but i guess you can't change the script that much, right? still, bodhi rae breathnach is lowkey amazing as jesse - love how she brings that youthful energy to the role 💖. and yeah, the fight choreo in this film is on point 🔥. bill nighy's performance as the sinister mi6 agent is also super interesting - feels like he's playing a darker version of himself 🕷️. overall, it's not gonna break any records or anything, but if you're a statham fan, i'd say give it a watch 👍.

🤯 just watched "Shelter" and honestly, it feels like they copied every good action movie from the past 10 years 🚫 Jason Statham's charm is still gonna save this flick, but the plot is so predictable I can already see the twists coming 😴 Naomi Ackie as the new head of MI6 is a nice touch tho 👍 Bill Nighy's villain is super creepy tho 👻 Can't say much for the German Shepherd though 🐕

Omg yaaas Jason Statham is back and he's as awesome as ever 💥🔫 I mean I was a bit skeptical about this movie at first because it sounds kinda familiar, but let me tell you, the action scenes are literally whooping my butt 😂👀 And Bodhi Rae Breathnach is like, wow she's so talented and pretty 💁‍♀️🤩 I love how Mason (Statham) has that tough exterior but is also got a soft spot for this young girl 🐶❤️ It's not the most original story, but honestly I'm just here for Statham's charm and the fight scenes are EVERYTHING 💪🔥

"Believe you can and you're halfway there." 💪 The film "Shelter" might not be groundbreaking, but its star Jason Statham brings his A-game as the tough-guy Mason, making the movie enjoyable for fans of action-packed thrillers. The young talent in the cast, particularly Bodhi Rae Breathnach, shines bright and hints at a promising future in Hollywood 🌟

🤔 So I watched "Shelter" and I gotta say, Jason Statham is still bringing the heat with his tough-guy charm 😎. But, I mean, the plot is super predictable 📚 - you know from the get-go that Mason's gonna have to fight for survival against all odds 💪.

I do think the new actress Bodhi Rae Breathnach is awesome though! She's got some serious acting chops 🤩 and her chemistry with Statham is on point 👫. The action scenes are also pretty sick 🔥, especially the parts where Mason's got his German Shepherd Jack by his side 🐕.

The only thing that bugged me was how formulaic the whole thing felt like 📈 - it's not like there were any real surprises or twists to keep you on the edge of your seat 😴. Still, if you're a fan of Statham and action movies in general, "Shelter" is definitely worth checking out 🎥.

lol what's with all these Jason Statham movies? he's been doing this same dude-for-days thing for years 😒. i mean i get it he's good at it but can't we have some innovation in our action flicks? and btw why do they always make him the only guy who cares about a kid? what about some female lead or a whole squad of kids?! 🤷‍♀️. on the other hand bodhi rae breathnach is kinda cool, she's got some serious acting chops

omg i loved statham in this movie 🤩 he always brings so much energy to his roles and his chemistry with bodhi rae breathnach was on point! she's def one to watch out for, can't wait to see what she does next 💁‍♀️. the action scenes were super intense and i loved how statham's character was more than just a tough guy, he had a soft spot that made him relatable 🐕. bill nighy's role as the bad guy added an extra layer of complexity to the story, makes me wanna watch it again ASAP 😄.

I don't know why they even bothered making another one of these " Transporter"-esque movies 🤷‍♂️. Jason Statham's charm is just gonna get watered down by some formulaic plot that's been done a million times before 🚫. And don't even get me started on the supporting cast – Naomi Ackie's character feels like an afterthought 🙄. But, I guess if you're a die-hard Jason Statham fan, you'll probably be okay with it 😐. The real highlight of this movie is Bodhi Rae Breathnach – she's the only one who brings some actual depth to the film 🔥.

omg i love jason statham in anything he does! 🤩🔫♂️ his tough-guy charm is just so iconic and he brings so much authenticity to this role, even though the plot is pretty formulaic 😊. bodhi rae breathnach tho is SO talented and i'm loving her performance as jesse 🐶❤️ jack the german shepherd is adorbs too can we talk about how cute they are together 🐾💕 the fight choreography is insane too! 💥👏

I just watched "Shelter" with my mates 🤯 and honestly, it felt like I'd seen all this before 📺. Jason Statham is still hella cool as Mason, but the plot was super predictable 😴. The fight scenes were insane though 🔥, especially Bodhi Rae Breathnach's debut - she's got some serious talent! 😎 Bill Nighy's villain was pretty great too 👊. What's a shame is that the whole thing felt like a rehash of old franchises 🤷‍♂️. Still, it's not all bad - Statham brings his A-game and the action scenes are top-notch 💪. Would've been more impressed if they'd done something new and original, but I guess that's just me being picky 😐

I just watched "Shelter" and I gotta say, Jason Statham is still got it 😎 his physicality as Mason is on point, but the plot feels like we've seen it all before 🤯 it's like they took parts from other movies and mashed them together into one action flick. The young actress Bodhi Rae Breathnach though, she's a star in the making 💫 her performance was top notch! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2044446/
