St. Paul Recognizes Pioneering Businesses with Annual Award

In a ceremony attended by local officials, St. Paul's City Council honored five businesses that have made significant contributions to the community through their dedication to essential services, employee engagement, and equity.

The prestigious award, now in its ninth year, was presented to Italian Pie Shoppe, which has been serving the city for over two decades. The restaurant at 1670 Grand Avenue took home the "Traditions Award," recognizing its commitment to being an integral part of St. Paul's history and culture. Runner-up, 620 Club, was also praised for its lasting presence in the community.

The "People's Choice Award" went to Life Juices, a juice shop at 450 Lexington Parkway North, which earned recognition from local residents for its excellence. Tease Salon took home the runner-up spot in this category.

Newcomers to the scene were recognized with the "New Kid on the Block Award," given to Lost Fox, a versatile business that opened its doors at 213 East Fourth Street just five years ago. Cancun Mexican Grill & Cantina was the runner-up for this award.

Roots Wellness Center, located at 1916 University Avenue West, received the "Good Neighbor Award" for its tireless efforts to improve the community through its behavioral and mental health services. Phe Coffee took home the runner-up spot in this category.

The award also highlighted the achievements of Vikings and Goddess Pie, a bakery at 2036 Marshall Avenue, which won the "Alice O'Brien Award" for its commitment to women's empowerment and equity. This year's winners were chosen by a selection committee composed of past award winners who reviewed applications based on their dedication to community engagement.

As part of the award ceremony, the honorees will receive six digital ad spaces in the city from Clear Channel Outdoor. The recognition marks an important milestone for these pioneering businesses that continue to shape St. Paul's vibrant landscape.

I mean, what's up with the website design? It's still looking all 2007 and outdated 🤔. And can we please get some more flexibility in how many characters I can type per post? This "limit" thing is so annoying 😒.

So yeah, it's cool that St. Paul recognized some awesome businesses this year. Italian Pie Shoppe has been a staple for like 20 years and Life Juices is doing great things with their juice shop. I'm also loving the fact that they're giving out awards to newcomers like Lost Fox - it's awesome to see new businesses making a name for themselves in the community 🙌.

But can we please just have some better formatting on this forum? It's hard to read sometimes and I'm starting to think I need to use Comic Sans or something just to make my comments stand out 😂.

I'm so stoked for those businesses who won the awards 🤩! It's awesome that they're making a difference in their community and setting a great example for others. I mean, 20 years is no joke for Italian Pie Shoppe, they must be doing something right 😂. And it's amazing to see newbies like Lost Fox getting recognition too, they must be bringing some fresh vibes to the scene 🎉. The fact that the awards are still going strong after nine years is a testament to how much St. Paul cares about its businesses and their contributions to the city ❤️. I hope these winners get to enjoy those digital ad spaces and keep on doing what they're doing best!

I'm so stoked to see more awesome local businesses getting some love! St. Paul is all about community, and it's amazing to see these five businesses being recognized for their contributions. I mean, Italian Pie Shoppe has been around for like, forever! 20 years is a big deal, and it's awesome that they're still serving up delicious pies to the community.

And the newbies on the block, Lost Fox and Cancun Mexican Grill & Cantina, are doing some amazing things too. It's so cool to see businesses popping up in different parts of the city and making a positive impact.

I love that the "People's Choice Award" went to Life Juices - it's always awesome to see a local business killing it in their community! And the fact that Roots Wellness Center is getting some recognition for its amazing work in mental health services... that's just incredible. These businesses are truly making a difference, and I'm so grateful to live in St. Paul! 💕🎉

I gotta disagree with all this...like, what's so special about these businesses? I mean, they're just doing their jobs, right? Anyone can show up and serve people food or make them a juice. And don't even get me started on the whole "community engagement" thing - that's just code for "we're gonna give you an award because we feel good about ourselves". Can't say I'm impressed with any of these winners. And what's up with the "New Kid on the Block Award"? Like, just because a business is new doesn't mean it's automatically better than the rest. Can't we just acknowledge that some businesses have been around for a long time and still manage to suck? 😒

I wonder what they mean by "pioneering businesses"? Like, are they the first ones to do stuff? I saw this one shop and it was really busy last week 🤔. So, like, is it because they're new or something? And, um, why do they have so many awards? Is it like a big competition? 😅
