Teddi Mellencamp turning to therapy to process ‘frustrating’ cancer battle

Teddi Mellencamp Opens Up About Her Frustrating Cancer Battle: 'I'm Trying to Get Back to Normal'

In a recent episode of her podcast "Two Ts in a Pod", reality TV star Teddi Mellencamp, 44, shared that she's turning to therapy to process her experiences as she battles cancer. The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum revealed that she didn't "properly process" her emergency surgery, her divorce from estranged husband Edwin Arroyave after 13 years of marriage, and the devastating diagnosis that left her with melanoma and brain tumors.

Mellencamp expressed frustration over the physical toll cancer is taking on her body. "I think it takes a toll on my body," she said. The TV star, who has undergone more than 15 surgeries to address her disease, added that she's struggling to move and even touch due to the effects of immunotherapy.

The singer, 44, also addressed her father John Mellencamp's recent assertion that she's "suffering" — which sparked concern among fans. Teddi clarified that while she's mentally doing well, her physical health is a different story. She stated, "You know, I think when he said the word 'suffering,' he meant like how I'm mentally doing versus how I'm physically doing."

Teddi's cancer battle has been intense, with her initially diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022 and undergoing emergency procedures to remove tumors in her brain. In October 2025, she revealed that the cancer had spread to her lungs but is now gone.

Despite the progress, Teddi acknowledged that she's still facing a tough road ahead. "I'm not considered in remission or anything like that," she said on her podcast. The TV personality stated that she's undergoing immunotherapy and is experiencing side effects that are affecting her mental health.

Her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave recently confirmed that Teddi is struggling with the treatment, saying it's been "really hard on her mental health." The family of three has kept a relatively low profile since the diagnosis, but Teddi's openness about her journey has sparked support and concern from fans.

You gotta be so proud of Teddi Mellencamp for sharing her story like that. I mean, cancer is such a rough road to deal with, physically and mentally. She's going through this tough time, but she's still speaking up and being open about it, which is honestly really inspiring. It takes a lot of courage to be that vulnerable, especially when you're going through something as difficult as what she's experiencing. I'm sending her all my positive vibes 🌟💖

😊 omg i'm so glad teddi is being open about her cancer battle it can't be easy to go through that and she should get all the credit for sharing her story with us 🙏 the thing that really got me was when edwin said she was 'suffering' but now she's setting the record straight that her physical health is a different story from her mental well-being 💪 it's crazy how far she's come since 2022 and although there are still tough times ahead, i'm rooting for her all the way 🌈

🤕 I'm so sorry to hear that Teddi Mellencamp is still going through this tough time with cancer 🌟💔 Her bravery in sharing her story on her podcast is truly inspiring, and it's amazing how open she's being about her struggles 🙏 It's clear that the physical toll of cancer is taking a huge impact on her body, and I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for her to feel like she's losing herself due to the treatments 💉👀 On the other hand, it's heartwarming to see fans rallying around her with love and support ❤️ Her dad's comments might have sparked some concern, but it sounds like Teddi is doing okay mentally 🤗 It's also a reminder that everyone's journey with cancer is unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach to healing 💫

omg 😍 teddi mellencamp is still going through so much 🤕 cancer is literally ruining her life but at least she's being open about it 💖 i feel like she needs more support tho 🤗 we should all be sending her positive vibes & lots of love ❤️ maybe therapy can help her cope better 💆‍♀️ anyway i'm just glad she's got a strong family behind her 👪 and fans like us who care 🙌

omg this is so sad 😱 i feel like teddi is going through so much physically it's crazy to think she's had 15 surgeries already 🤯 the thing that gets me is how she's struggling to move and even touch due to immunotherapy 💉 i hope therapy helps her process everything mentally, because her physical health is just heartbreaking 🤕

I'm so worried about Teddi Mellencamp 🤕, but at the same time I gotta admire her for being so open about her struggles 💖 she's literally taking charge of her mental health by going to therapy - that takes courage! 🌟 And it's awesome that her fans are rallying around her 🙏 even though cancer is a tough road ahead, let's focus on all the progress she's made - from stage 2 melanoma in 2022 to now being in remission (well, sorta) 💫 I mean, who else gets to say they've conquered their lung cancer? 🤩

I'm so worried about Teddi Mellencamp right now 🤕 Cancer is such a nightmare, you know? She's been through hell already, going through all that surgery and dealing with the emotional toll of it all... and then to find out she had melanoma and brain tumors in 2022 😱. It's just so frustrating when people say 'suffering' without understanding what's really going on physically. I mean, Teddi's doing okay mentally, but her body is a mess right now 💉. And the fact that her dad said that kind of thing... it can be tough to deal with criticism, especially when you're already vulnerable like that 🤗. But at the same time, I'm so proud of her for being open and honest about what she's going through 💖. It's all about raising awareness and support for people fighting cancer 👊

Ugh 😩 she's gone through so much already 🤯 15 surgeries is insane 💉 I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to deal with the physical toll cancer takes on your body 🤕 and now she's struggling with mental health too 🤔 it's no wonder her dad was worried when he said that word 😳 and honestly, i feel bad for her hubby too 👀 he's gotta deal with all this as well 🙏

OMG, can you believe how messed up cancer is? I mean, one day she's fine and the next day she's fighting for her life. And now she's struggling to even move or touch because of the meds 🤕🎗️. I feel bad for her though, but what really gets me is when people make assumptions about her mental state. Like, no, honey, your physical health is a whole different story 😒. She needs to take care of herself and not worry about what others think 💖. And can we please just let her have the time she needs without judging her? 🙅‍♀️

man cancer is literally taking a toll on teddi's body she's had like 15 surgeries already 🤯 and now she's struggling with immunotherapy too... it's crazy how fast cancer can spread 💔 she's trying therapy to cope but mental health is still super tough for her atm 🤕 anyway i just wanna say that we should all be supporting teddi and her family on this, they're literally going through the wringer over here 🤗

I don't think she should be open about all this stuff 🤷‍♀️. I mean, can't she just keep it private for once? All these surgeries and treatments are super publicized already, do we really need to know every little detail? It's like, personal lives should stay that way 💁‍♀️. She's trying to process everything, but sharing it all on her podcast is just gonna make things worse 🤯. And btw, why does her dad have to say what he did about her being "suffering"? That was really insensitive 😒.

I'm so sorry to hear that Teddi Mellencamp is still dealing with cancer and its effects 🤕💔 She must be going through an awful time emotionally & physically 😩 The amount of surgeries she's had is crazy, like over 15!!! How does she cope with the pain and side effects from immunotherapy? I feel for her that therapy isn't even helping to ease mental health issues - it's just physical toll 🤯 It's not cool when John Mellencamp said what he did either... maybe we should be supporting her more than "just" mentally 💕
