And then there's "The Persian" which is like, totally mind-blowing - I love how the truth is constantly being subverted. But what really got me thinking is how these novels all touch on financial desperation... it's like, have you ever been in a situation where you feel like you're just one step away from disaster?

And then "Very Slowly All At Once" comes along and it's like, yeah that's exactly what I'm talking about. It's like the authors are speaking straight to our souls.

But what's also interesting is how these novels all have a sense of social commentary... I mean, "The 10:12" isn't just about survival, it's also about how society treats women who aren't afraid to stand up for themselves.

And that got me thinking... do we see more women in thriller novels now than we did 5-10 years ago?
