The New Kindle Scribes Are Great, but Not Great Enough

The article reviews the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and its features, comparing it to previous models. The author is somewhat disappointed with the device's limitations, particularly in terms of writing directly on pages and not having a front light.

Here are some key points from the review:

* The new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft has a 150-ppi color screen and 300 ppi for black-and-white.
* It has a quad-core chip that promises to support AI features like summarizing and refining writing.
* The device comes with 10 colors for pens, including black and gray, which can be used on both the Workspace tab and ebooks.
* There is a new shader tool that allows users to layer light shades of color on top of each other for a more detailed look.
* AI-powered features like summarizing books and asking spoiler-free questions are not available until next year.
* The Active Canvas feature, which allows notes to be taken around but not directly on the text, is still present in the new model.
* Margins can be expanded, sticky notes can be added, but writing directly on pages is not possible.
* The device lacks a front light, which may be a drawback for users who need to use it at night or in dark environments.

Overall, the author concludes that while neither of the new Kindle Scribes is a bad device, they would not be their go-to pick for an e-reader with digital notebook capabilities. They suggest that users consider alternative options like reMarkable tablets, which offer more features and accessories at a similar price point.

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would want to buy a Kindle Scribe Colorsoft when you can get the reMarkable tablet? I mean, it's got all the same features but with way more flexibility and a better screen, if you ask me πŸ€”πŸ’‘. And don't even get me started on the lack of front light - that's just a dealbreaker for me. I've had the previous models and they were already kind of limiting in terms of taking notes on actual pages.

I'm kinda underwhelmed by this new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft thingy πŸ€”. I mean, it's got some sweet features like the quad-core chip and AI-powered summarizing, but writing directly on pages? 😩 that's gotta be a major bummer for anyone who wants to get creative with their notes. And no front light? That's a total dealbreaker for me when I'm reading in bed or in dark rooms πŸ“šπŸ’‘. I dunno, maybe I'm just too used to my reMarkable tablet, but it seems like this one's missing some key functionality. Anyone else feeling me on this? πŸ‘€

idk what's the point of these kinda e-readers lol its all about how u wanna take notes while reading but still keep ur eyes on the story πŸ€”. im not really sold on the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft tho, like 10 colors for pens? thats just a gimmick if u ask me πŸ˜‚. and what's up with no front light? that's just basic functionality right now. reMarkable tablets might be the way to go for ppl who wanna get all outta this e-reader life πŸ“šπŸ’»

Ugh, I'm so underwhelmed by the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft πŸ€”πŸ“š. 10 colors for pens? That's cute, but it still can't compare to the awesome color options on reMarkable tablets πŸ–‹οΈπŸ’». And have you seen the screen resolution? 150-ppi color and 300 ppi black-and-white? Not bad, I guess, but not exactly mind-blowing 🀯.

I'm also kinda bummed that there's no front light πŸ˜•. Who uses an e-reader at night without a light? But hey, I guess it's better than nothing... or is it? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

And what's up with the AI features being delayed till next year? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ That's just so... 2024 πŸ“†. I mean, come on, if you're gonna bring out a digital notebook e-reader, give us some actual features that make it worth our money πŸ’Έ.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you need an e-reader with digital notebook capabilities, there are better options out there πŸ”₯. reMarkable tablets might not be perfect either, but they at least offer more features and accessories 🀝. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft just feels like a step in the wrong direction... 🚫

I'm so over these new Kindle devices... I mean, what's the point of having a digital notebook if you can't even write directly on pages? It's just not convenient enough for me. I need a device that's gonna make my life easier, not more complicated. And another thing, who thought it was a good idea to leave out a front light? That's like saying 'forget about being able to use your e-reader at night' πŸ˜’. I'm starting to think reMarkable is the way to go... those things seem so much more geared towards note-taking and reading.

omg I'm so confused about this new Kindle thingy πŸ€” I mean, it sounds like they've made some great improvements but what's the point of having all these fancy AI features if you can't even write directly on pages? πŸ–ŠοΈ I need a device that can keep up with my crazy writing habits and not have to switch between ebooks and notebooks. πŸ“ And btw, why no front light?! 😴 it's like they forgot about people who use their devices at night or in the dark. πŸ˜’

I'm soooo underwhelmed by the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft πŸ€”. I mean, 10 colors for pens is cool and all, but what's up with not having a front light? That's like, a total deal-breaker for me when it comes to using an e-reader at night 😴. And don't even get me started on the Active Canvas feature being still present - can't they just make it better instead of keeping it as is? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ On the other hand, I love that there's a new shader tool and AI-powered features like summarizing books are coming next year! That sounds super useful for me. But overall, I'm kinda leaning towards reMarkable tablets for now - at least they offer more features and accessories at a similar price point πŸ’Έ.

im thinkin the kindle scribble colorsoft looks pretty cool 😎 but gotta say i'm kinda disappointed too - no front light is like, a big deal for me 'cause i always read in bed or on my couch πŸ›‹οΈ and dont wanna be stuck with a device thats only usable when its bright outside lol. plus, expandin margins and addin sticky notes sounds like half the fun of havin a notebook πŸ“. reMarkable tablets seem way more appealing to me now - at least they got all that extra stuff like stylus support and better battery life 🀩 gotta think twice before gettin one tho

omg u gotta check out this new kindle scribe colorsoft tho πŸ€” it has some sick features like the quad-core chip & shader tool... i was expecting it to have a front light tho, that's kinda a bummer 😐 but still, 10 colors for pens is a major win πŸ’‘ and ai-powered features are coming soon, so that's a plus πŸš€ but idk man, reMarkable tablets seem like the way to go if u want more than just an e-reader... maybe i'll stick with my old kindle tho 😎

Ugh I was so hyped about the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft but now I'm kinda meh πŸ€”. I mean, 300 ppi for black-and-white is pretty standard, right? πŸ“Š And AI-powered features like summarizing books are cool and all, but not having them out of the box until next year is whack 😐. Plus, no front light means it's just not gonna be my go-to device when I'm reading in bed or something πŸ›‹οΈ. I do like the new shader tool tho, that sounds super useful for making notes πŸ“. But reMarkable tablets are like $100 more, which is a bit steep for me πŸ€‘. Has anyone tried both of these and can give me a better idea? 😐
