Trae Young trade sets stage for Hawks’ follow-up deal with Blazers

The Atlanta Hawks have struck another deal in a move that seems set to be part of a larger shake-up. Just hours after trading Trae Young to the Washington Wizards, the Hawks sent guard Vit Krejci to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Duop Reath and two second-round picks.

Krejci, a 25-year-old Czech Republic native, initially joined the NBA as a 2020 second-round pick with the Washington Wizards. He later played for the Oklahoma City Thunder before being traded to the Hawks in 2022. Although he was waived by the team that same year, Krejci re-signed with Atlanta in 2023 and has since become a consistent contributor, averaging nearly nine points per game while shooting over 42 percent from beyond the arc.

However, with the emergence of Corey Kispert, who has seen significant playing time for the Hawks this season, Krejci's role has been diminished. The move seems to be an effort by Atlanta to further solidify its future without Young, and it could set the stage for a follow-up deal with the Blazers.

Kispert has already shown promise in his limited appearances for the Hawks, producing 9.6 points per game while shooting 44 percent from three-point range. The addition of Duop Reath, who is currently nursing an injury, adds depth to Atlanta's roster but leaves questions about the future of the big man.

With Young now gone and Krejci's role diminished, the Hawks are making a clear push for a more defined plan moving forward. It remains to be seen what other moves they have in store, but this latest deal seems like just one part of a larger strategy to establish their team as competitive contenders in the league.

omg did u see that move by the Hawks?! 🤯 vit krejci's role has been pretty meh lately with corey kispert getting so much time on the court but i guess trading him out for duop reath is a good move lol... the hawks are trying to get back on track now that trae young is gone and krejci was gonna be their go-to 3pt shooter 🤔 duop's injury tho is a bummer, hope he recovers soon 👍

idk why atlanta is trading krejci already... dude was killing it last season & he's still young 🤔💔 i mean, kispert is promising and all but what about krejci's value? can't they keep him around for backup purposes or trade him to a team that needs shooting? this just feels like atlanta giving up too much for not enough 💸😒

lol what's up with the Hawks and player drama? 🤯 I get it, Trae Young is gone now so they gotta make some changes... Krejci's role got hit hard with Corey Kispert coming on strong 😬. But at the same time, Duop Reath's addition gives them more depth, which is a good thing! 💪 So yeah, it feels like they're trying to get into a groove without Young but I'm curious what's next for this team 🤔

I'm low-key loving how the Hawks are shaking things up! Trading Trae Young was a big move, and now sending Krejci to Portland could be a clever ploy to free up more space for other players like Corey Kispert to shine. I mean, dude's been lighting it up in limited appearances, so I'm here for that! The addition of Duop Reath adds some depth, but yeah, what's gonna happen with him? Does he get traded again or stick around? Either way, I think the Hawks are showing they're committed to building something special. Now, if they can just find a way to keep Kispert happy and healthy, this could be an interesting season for them!

I'm literally shaking my head over here 🤯, I mean what's going on with Trae Young? One minute he's gone and the next they're trading away Vit Krejci for some young kid who's got potential but hasn't even had a chance to shine yet?! 🤦‍♂️ It feels like Atlanta is trying to rebuild or something, but I'm not sure if it's going in the right direction. I mean Krejci was a solid player, averaging nearly 9 points per game and shooting over 42% from 3, what did they expect him to do?! 🤔 And now he's just being phased out for Corey Kispert who has only been playing with limited minutes... it's like Atlanta is trying to make this happen without even giving Krejci a fair shot. It's all so frustrating 😩

🤔 I think it's kinda weird how the Hawks just traded Krejci like that... he was having a solid season and all 🙄 But at least they got some good pieces out of the deal, Duop Reath is supposed to be pretty solid when he's healthy 💪 And Corey Kispert seems promising too, hope he can step up more often ⏫

OMG, I'm loving how the Hawks are shaking things up! 🤯 They're basically starting fresh with no Trae Young anymore and making some smart moves to bring in fresh talent like Duop Reath and Corey Kispert 🤔. The fact that they're being proactive about their future is giving me hope for this season 💡. I mean, it's not easy to build a competitive team, but they seem to be on the right track 👍. Let's see what other surprises they have in store! 😄

so they traded trae young 🤯 and now vit krejci is being sent to portland? that's crazy i mean i was watching some games last week and krejci seemed pretty good, 42% from 3 pt range? 🚀 he's like a good player but then corey kispert comes along and he gets benched lol what's going on in atlanta? 🤔 did the hawks just give up too much for those second round picks tho? i don't get why they would do that unless it's part of some big plan? 🤯

I'm seeing some major roster shake-ups going down in Atlanta 🤯. I think it's smart on their part to make these moves, especially with Young gone. They need to figure out who's gonna be a key contributor now. Krejci was doing okay but his role got reduced with Kispert coming up 🚫. I'm curious to see how this plays out and if the Hawks can make some noise in the playoffs 🔥. Maybe Reath's addition helps solidify their bench? It's definitely gonna be interesting to watch what else they do...

just got out of all that hawk news 🤯 so basically atm it looks like atlanta's trying to set themselves up for success after trading young... krejci was a solid contributor but his role got smaller with kispert coming up 🚨 duop reath is injured now but he adds depth. this all seems part of a bigger plan for the hawks 📈 not sure what's next tho

OMG, I'm loving the Hawks' move 💪🏽! They're totally revamping their squad and it's all about setting themselves up for success 📈. The addition of Duop Reath is a good one, but let's be real, the real x-factor here is Corey Kispert 🔥! He's like, totally on fire right now and I'm not surprised they're making him a big part of their plans 🔮.

I mean, Vit Krejci was solid for them last season, no doubt about it 🤔, but with Young gone, his role became redundant 💔. This move is all about the Hawks getting back on track and establishing themselves as a contender 🔥. It's gonna be interesting to see how they shake things up in the coming weeks/months... I'm hyped 🎉!

OMG, gotta say I'm kinda surprised by this trade 🤯! Vit Krejci's game is on point, and he was killin' it with that 42% three-point shot 😎. But I guess you can't keep a good thing, right? The Hawks are tryin' to create some space for themselves, especially with Young gone. It's like they're sayin', "Hey, we've got this" 🙄. Corey Kispert is lookin' pretty promising too, so maybe this trade is just a part of a bigger plan to get their roster in check.

The die is cast 🔄👍 "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." - C.S. Lewis

OMG, I'm actually kinda hyped about this trade lol! 🤩 I mean, it's not easy losing Trae Young, but I think the Hawks are making some smart moves here. Krejci was already a solid contributor for them, and now they've got Duop Reath to add some depth to their roster. And let's be real, Corey Kispert is looking like a star in the making 🌟! It's all about setting the stage for the future, right? They're trying to build something sustainable here, and I think it's gonna pay off in the long run 🚀💪

I'm thinking the Hawks are gonna make some serious noise in the playoffs this year 🤯! The stats on Corey Kispert are insane - 9.6 points per game is crazy for a rookie! And with Duop Reath on board, their depth just got a whole lot deeper 📈. On the other hand, Trae Young's departure has definitely changed things around here... but I'm still optimistic about this team's chances 💪. The NBA playoffs are always full of surprises, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out 🎉.

By the way, did you know that Vit Krejci is averaging 9.3 points per game this season? That's a major drop from his career-high of 14.2 points per game last season 📊. And here's a breakdown of Kispert's shooting percentages:

* 44% from three-point range
* 42% from beyond the arc (as shown on NBA.com)

Not bad for a rookie! 💼

Here are some stats to illustrate the Hawks' roster changes this season:

* Trae Young: 22.4 points per game, 6.8 assists per game
* Vit Krejci: 9.3 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game
* Corey Kispert: 9.6 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game

Pretty stark contrast 🤔.

Oh, and one more thing - the Hawks have been really aggressive in trading for young players this season... but how's their win-loss record looking? 📊

omg u gotta think about vit krejci's future now that he's been traded lol his game was already on the decline with corey kispert coming up 🤔👀 krejci was good but not great, so it makes sense atlanta wanna keep corey in the starting lineup 💪🏻💫 duop reath is a decent pickup tho, but its all about what's next for the hawks, fam 😬📈

Ugh I'm literally so confused right now 🤯 about the Hawks' recent trades... Like, I get it they're trying to move on from Trae Young and all, but can't they just give some decent playing time to Krejci for once?! The guy's been killing it as a contributor since 2023 and then suddenly he gets reduced to barely even being on the bench. It's like they value the new kid Corey Kispert over him... Newsflash: Kispert is gonna get hurt or something because he's a rookie, not some reliable veteran who just happens to have a hot streak 🤦‍♂️

And Duop Reath? Like, what even happened with that guy?! I guess we're just supposed to forget about him now... 😔 The Hawks are basically just throwing money around at this point and I'm not mad at it or anything, but can't they please just be upfront about what they're doing?! It's like they're playing some crazy high-stakes game of NBA chess with us as pawns 🎲

idk why atm i feel like the hawks r makin some smart moves lol 🤔 dey gotta make room 4 corey kispert 2 shine n dey doin dat 💪 duop reath is gonna b a great addition tho! krejci's demised role might b a good thing 4 him 2, he cant be held back by young no more 🚫 anywayz dey gotta figure out whats next 4 dem 👀
