A Mexican national who was previously deported twice for a drunken driving offense that left two California teenagers dead has been sentenced to prison again, this time for crossing the border into the US illegally. Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano's latest conviction resulted in a three-year and 10-month federal prison sentence.
Following his initial arrest in November 2021, where he was found guilty of driving under the influence (DUI) without a valid license, killing Anya Varfolomeev and Nicholay Osokin on California's Seal Beach Boulevard. He had previously served only 3.5 years of his original 10-year sentence due to 'good behavior' before being released in July. Ortega-Anguiano was re-arrested shortly after for his second DUI offense.
His latest sentencing came after he pleaded guilty to illegally entering the US again, with Judge John Holcomb handing down a 46-month prison term and three years of probation.

this guy is like a broken record... I mean, come on, two DUIs? 
that's just reckless behavior. And now he's in the States for the third time without proper documentation... it's not just about him, think about the families who have to deal with this kinda stress. 
What's the message here? Does anyone care about public safety anymore? 
. Now, 46 months in prison is way more reasonable for someone who's broken the law twice like that

This guy's sentence just don't feel right to me... He's had like two chances already? First DUI that killed two teenagers was pretty severe, but now he's crossing the border again? It feels like the system is giving him too many second chances. And 3 years and 10 months in prison still seems way short considering what he did. 
Not saying he deserves life in prison or anything, but come on... Three convictions and two stints in the slammer isn't exactly a history of 'good behavior'. 
Three years for sneaking back in - that's a slap on the wrist compared to what he's already done. And it's not like he's even sorry or anything... I think the system needs some tweaking, you feel me? Maybe they should make the punishment fit the crime or something? 
Anyway, justice is served, but it feels kinda hollow when you consider all the people who've been affected by his reckless behavior

. And now this guy gets another chance to serve time for breaking the law? It just seems like he's getting a free pass
