UK hospitality firms demand more help with business rates amid questions over Heathrow discount

man i'm so worried about these hospitality firms 🤕 they're already dealing with so much pressure what with energy prices, minimum wage hikes and taxes on alcohol on top of that business rates are just another thing to deal with its like one big punch to the gut

i feel for the nightclubs too they've already lost a third of their clubs since 2017 and now they're not even getting any help from the government it's like they're being left behind

i think the govt needs to step in and do something concrete to address this problem we can't just keep throwing money at businesses without making some real changes to business rates or else we'll just be kicking the can down the road

🤕 It's so sad to see these hospitality firms struggling again 🍴🏨. They're already doing their best with such high energy prices and minimum wage hikes 🔥💸. The fact that nightclubs are being left out of additional help is just a huge oversight 🎶😢. I think the government needs to seriously review their business rate system and find ways to make it more manageable for small businesses like these 🤝. It's not fair that they're getting squeezed on top of everything else 💸💔. Maybe some incentives or tax breaks could help ease the burden a bit? 🤑

omg cant believe these hospitality firms are gonna get shafted 🤑🤯 theyre already struggling with energy prices and minimum wage hikes and now rates are gonna hit them like a tonne of bricks... dont even get me started on nightclubs being excluded from relief 🎉😡 need some serious help from the gov, not just a token gesture, some actual support for these businesses who are literally holding it together right now 💪🏼

man, its like the gov is trying to help but theres always room for improvement 🤔💸 i mean, 15% increase or £800 might seem like a lot but if u r running a small cafe and thats ur monthly income, it gets crazy fast 🤑 plus energy prices and min wage are still gonna hit them hard. the gov needs to think outside the box here. maybe some kind of business rate reform that actually helps ppl? idk what the answer is but its def not just about throwing more money at the problem 💸📊

The plight of UK hospitality firms is a stark reminder of the need for targeted fiscal policy interventions 🤔. With business rate increases still looming and no clear indication that additional relief measures are on the horizon, the sector's precarious position is all too evident 📉. As industry experts Kate Nicholls and Michael Kill so eloquently argue, root-and-branch reform is long overdue to address this crippling issue 🔄.

The fact that some 1 in 3 nightclubs have already succumbed to rising business rates since 2017 only serves as a stark warning of the catastrophic consequences that could unfold if we fail to act decisively ⚠️. As Kate Nicholls so aptly put it, "business rates are crazy, distorting and broken" - it's time for policymakers to take notice 🙏.

The airport deal does offer some respite, albeit limited, for those affected by rising business rates. However, this is little comfort for firms that have been struggling to stay afloat in the first place 💸. To mitigate further closures, concrete action from government is imperative - and it's high time we saw some meaningful reforms 🚀.
