Village of Oak Lawn to pay $825K in settlement with man punched by cop

idk how i feel about this... $825k is definitely not enough considering what happened to abuatelah 🤕. i get that the village tried to settle it quickly, but it just feels like they're trying to sweep it under the rug. at the same time, i don't think a lawsuit is going to bring back his friends he lost or change the fact that police brutality exists 💔. on the bright side, maybe this will prompt some real changes in how law enforcement handles situations like this... we'll see 🤞.
 
omg can u believe this?? $825k just because some cops got a little too eager? 🤯 i mean idc what happened or not, but that's a lotta $$ just for a beatdown lol. also glad that Abuatleh got the justice he needed, no one deserves to be treated like that. and yeah it's kinda crazy that the village settled so quickly, guess they didnt wanna deal with all the drama 🙃
 
😕 This $825K payout feels like a slap in the face to Hadi Abuatelah 🤯 - I mean, he's still gotta deal with the emotional trauma from that day, and it's crazy that the village had to settle just for him to get some closure 💸. Three cops caning someone is just not okay, especially considering the gun was found in his bag as part of a plea deal 🚫. I'm all for accountability, but this feels like more about saving face for the village rather than actually addressing what went wrong 👥.
