it's so sad to see africa cup of nations struggling . fifa should think about how this affects african countries more than just european clubs . africa has been growing and showing great talent in football but we need more support, not less ️. the world cup is one thing but africa can't be pushed around just for that . patrice motsepe's efforts are good but it needs more backing from fifa . maybe they should create a separate african league like gianni infantino said . it's time africa gets its due recognition
Did you see that stats on the Africa Cup of Nations? 2023 was only 20 teams lol 6 days notice for clubs is wild . European clubs have like 70% of players participating in the Champions League which makes it hard for African nations to compete. They need a solution ASAP or its gonna be tough for them to keep up with the calendar ️
African Cup of Nations attendance has been declining since 2012 and now its averaging around 500k per match . Compare that to the Champions League which is consistently breaking records . We need a stronger commitment from European clubs if African nations wanna reclaim their spot on the global calendar
Also, look at this chart of team participation numbers over the years... it's all downhill for Africa since 2012
I don’t usually comment but... I feel bad for Africa's football scene. They deserve better than to be treated like an afterthought by Fifa and European clubs . It's like, they're saying "oh we'll let you have your tournament, but only if it doesn't conflict with our fancy Champions League". It's so frustrating . And what about the players? They're the ones who make the teams successful, not the managers or coaches . It feels like they're being held back by Fifa's priorities. The "2025 Cup of Nations" thing is just a band-aid solution . Can't they see that this is just treating the symptoms and not addressing the real issue? I hope someone from Fifa steps up and says "you know what, we need to make Africa cup of nations more important".
